  4. well the adapter may have its uses but i doubt it would be any good for aquariums because its for ordinary t5s not HO or VHO t5s as used on aquariums. basically without upgrading to a newer fitting this enables more effiecent t5 tubes to be used so you can swap a 40w tube for a 28w tube . some of the newer, cheap all in one aquariums use ordinary t5s already. but at the moment most of the aquarium tubes are vho or ho so if you were to use this adaptor on say an old 4ft t8 fitting you would only be able to use cormmercial tubes so warm white and cool white possibly some industrial colouered tubes if you knew where to find them.
  5. my catch love to watch the fish and frogs but are too wuss to go fishing they will drink the water though

do you find those wavemaker pumps noisy ? i got one of the same ones its quite loud might buy a sunsun instead and trim the impellor down to reduce the flow. those wavemakers have a stainless steel shaft which is meant to be a no-no for marine too .

personally i would leave it without a perspex or glass lid think in summer it will help increase evaporation and cooling on those hot days (small tanks can have heat trouble in summer) also yes it will cut out some useful light and have to be clean reguarly to due to salt spray. if you end up getting any fish that are known to jump make a lid out of plastic mesh
  8. yep 60l would be fine some plants like java moss and java fern can handle low levels of salt
  9. well my off road experience is somewhat limited but if your going to do a lot of road driving a turbo is certainly better makes diesels so much more drivable

  11. nows proabaly not a good time for collecting due to the rain and sediment in the rivers. i have seen inanga and 1 kokapu of some description in our creek as well as small bullies and a giant bully viewtopic.php?f=41&t=34046&hilit=giant+bully i havent seen any fish in the creek for a few months now only eels. i think i would be more inclined to try some of the better trout fishing rivers as where trout flourish natives will also(due to better water quality) perhaps the otakaikino river or the L2 out in selwyn
  12. ive got some slate you can have for free if you want it

have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=28&t=44098 if you do go down the same path as i did i would suggest using bigger diameter pipe like 20mm or 25mm so then you can use a grunty return pump for more flow in your main tank. or even split the return into two pipes so that the flow is coming from two different areas which may eliminate the use of a wavemaker type pump
  16. perhaps have a look on trade me for a microworm culture they are small white/clear worms that live on porridge perfect size for guppy fry, easy to grow or even ask in the private trade and exchange section someone in your area might give you a starter fpr free
