  1. A bit of boiled spinach is good for feeding them too.

    Wild apisto pics.

You need to learn to use breeder speak. Those aren't wild Dwarf cockatoos. They're F0 Apistogrammas.

    How many?

The rule of thumb(I won't comment on how useless it is) is actually an inch of fish per GALLON, not liter. So, round it off to one inch of fish per 4 liters. Only really works with small tetras. I think I'll make up a cubic neon rule of thumb. One 1" neon is 1 cubic neon. a 2" fish is worth 2 cubed neons, so 8 cubic neons. So, my 8" severums would be 8^3 cubic neons. So that fish is worth 512 cubic neons... Hmmm...Maybe I need to rethink this...Ok, we'll make it square neons! So that way a 2" fish is worth 4 square neons and the severum is worth 64 square neons. So, now that we've got a baseline, and say that a 220L tank is good for 2 severums at medium stocking that's 128 square neons worth of fish per 220L. So, let's say moderate stocking is 1 square neon per 2 liters. Now, going by that and making some guesstimates at the size of your fish... 3 clown loaches@3" each=27 square neons 10 neons=10 square neons 1 bristlenose@3"=9 square neons 1 borneo sucker@2"=4 square neons 3 cories@ 2"=12 square neons 2 mollies@ 3"=18 square neons 2 baby [email protected]"=.5 square mollies. So, that's a total of 80.5 square neons. Your tank, being 180L has a capacity at moderate stocking levels of 90 square neons you've got room for another 9.5 square neons. Hmmm...Something tells me I may have overthought this a bit. hehe, Generally though, just keep an eye on your nitrates. You're overstocked when your water changes aren't keeping your nitrate levels in a reasonable range. So, you can either do bigger water changes to not be overstocked or remove some fish.
  4. It's a glass with a very high chance of getting lung cancer.
  5. And avoid most cichlids unless you want to rubber band rocks to the plants to keep them down.

    moonlights

Hmmm, That's an idea Inter. Though, it'd make it even more complicated, have to get a pair of 6V batteries or just wire 9AAs in a series. But, anyway, I've got the adapter floating around the house somewhere, might as well use it.

    moonlights

Ok, I broke down and bought 10. But now I can't find the power adapter I know I have around somewhere.

    moonlights

It looks like the best wavelength is 465-470nm, which is what those leds are rated at. Comparing prices to dick smith's blue leds, they're twice as bright for 1/6th the cost. Woah.
  9. Boil some spinach to soften it up and put that in there for him. I just threw it in a cup of water and put it in the microwave for a minute. Seemed to work well.

    Feeding

Where do you guys get it and how much? For obvious reasons, I can't get it locally.

    moonlights

Hmmm, Those aren't bad prices. Anyone know what the ideal wavelength for a moonlight is?
  12. Moved this here, should get more attention in the saltwater forum.

    again

Oh great, MORE gay fish! Seems it's contagious, sorry if you caught it from me, Bikie. Uhh, I mean my FISH!!!
  14. So far, my fish have been fed, in addition to normal fishfood: 1 handful of newspaper, 1 plastic shovel, 3 plastic car tires and 1 Birman cat.

    moonlights

Like a moonlight? I'd actually like to get a handful of them. They're relatively common.
  16. The only way it might reduce the algae growth is if you're getting a significant amount of light from outside the tank, which few tanks do. I think smoked glass would only be worth doing if you had some really jumpy fish.
  17. Yup, shouldn't be too complicated, 6 pieces of wood nailed/screwed/otherwise fastened together with a flat piece of plywood on the top. You can get fancier and cut the piece of plywood in half, put some hinges on so you can open it if you want.
  18. Got mine today...Well, yesterday now...Too, I just didn't check the mail, wifey called to tell me. So, see? I was right! 2-3 working days from the 16th.
  19. It's uhh...I dunno what it's supposed to be used for, all I've ever used it for is feeding fish food or making fish food. You can use regular yeast too, the stuff for making bread and whatever.
  20. I've got one of those little plastic critter tanks with brine shrimp in it. Unheated, no circulation, occasionally when I remember I feed them some brewers yeast. They grow pretty quickly, a few weeks from hatching to adult and they breed pretty quickly. Mine are dying off as fast as they're hatching, but that's because I pretty much ignore it, give them water changes, heat and an air hose for some circulation they'd probably breed like rabbits.
  21. You don't need to dedicate a tank to brine shrimp. Just a coke bottle and an airpump is all you need. If you want to go more complicated, a coke bottle, an air pump, a bucket full of water and a heater.

    What tests?

The good bacteria stuff with cycle and stress zyme is BS, by the way. It doesn't do a thing for bacteria, it just adds more rubbish to your water.
  23. Jude, you should edit your profile and put your location in there.
  24. You have long finned bristlenoses? What kinda price are you wanting for them?
