  1. Where'd you get the valve and what kind is it? Might give that a try for mine, it's a noisy bastard. Hey, might as well ask now, should the pipe from the bottom of the overflow go into the water a few inches in the sump or be a little above the surface?

    Sick Dwarf Puffer

Mine would look thin if they'd gone 24 hours between feedings. And this is after eating about half their volume in blood worms.
  3. Also, try a tripod. Helps heaps if it's too dim for a short exposure.
  4. That's what I said in my first post, Breakaway. Point the at each other.
  5. Like if you point the filter at a rock or at the side of the tank it splashes and makes it turbulent instead of doing something like making the water in the tank spiral around until it turns into a whirlpool and all the fish get dizzy and throw up. The angels don't really like current, not sure on the rest.
  6. Haha, sure, I'll pay you $100 per kilo for base rock!
  7. Should be fine, you might just want to maybe point the filters at each other or arrange them to cut down on the current a bit, though, some fish like having a constant current.
  8. Well yeah, you can probably get the cleaner shrimp in the US for $5 and the Green Chromis for $7. 8)
  9. My tetras have that happen to them all the time. Never had a problem, though the temp usually only drops to around 18ish. Even had the heater in my fry tank die and the fry seemed to handle it without a problem, they were down to 15. Anyway, don't worry too much.

    Air driven filters

I've used it several times in daily conversation. Though, I don't think cavitation is the right word in this case. In relation to pumps, it's pretty common.

    wiring LED's

There you go, that's exactly what I was thinking of. I just had a little test of a single LED just stuffed into the end of the power adapter(Which I managed to find in the bermuda triangle behind my computer desk) and they're brighter than I expected. I'm not sure on the exact amount of light to aim for, but 2 per foot looks like it would be HEAPS, even 1 per foot should be fine. 1 per 2 feet looks like it'd be at least enough to see in the tank with all the lights and the room lights turned off. Looks very nice and the ripples of light, awesome! hahaha. That's running on the 3 volt setting which puts out 4 v and goes down to about 3.5 with the load of the LED. On the 4.5V setting it's kinda odd, it's putting out 5.5ish and the LED gets a much greener tinge. It'd probably burn out really quick like that.
  12. Give me a few months I might be in the market to buy a few, but I obviously don't have anything to trade yet.

    wiring LED's

    I was thinking of doing them sort of like this, let's see if this works... ------------------------------- | | | | | | | | | | o o o o o o o o o o | | | | | | | | | | ------------------------------- But, when I get around to it I might have a look at Dick Smith for that Vero board. Might try dropping a small trimpot in too, just because it might be fun to be able to dim it them.

It looks like he's all on his own there, so I guess if he's not there noone answers. He needs to get an answering machine or a cellphone.
  15. Anyone willing to trade a sebae clown frag for a blue tang frag?
  16. Oh, in that case add 2 to the list for dinner, that'll be wifey and me.
  17. $10 for combination expo and seahorse farm, wasn't it?
  18. I don't think I'd go over 600 tall on a tank, and even then it's still tough reaching the bottom of the tank. That's just me though.
  19. And it's kinda fun splashing around in the water with jerry cans...Well, at least it was when it was WARM.
  20. The way I look at it is, I can either work 3-4 hours longer to earn the money for some salt or I can go for a nice little drive and an hour-2 hour trip to get water.
  21. Check out http://www.ak.planet.gen.nz/~bio/ They sell earthworm cultures, should be the appropriate type.

Yup, he's good. I got a 4foot sump made with a couple partitions, a little wider than the average for $130. Although, he made it 50mm longer than I wanted. Probably due to lack of communication, I guess.

    I suppose a ziploc bag would work...Actually, I suddenly want to try that...Too bad I don't have a camera.

Brian, shrink wrap the camera, then you can put it right into the water. I think the get bigger fish is the best idea so far though.
