    Mule needed...

If he was talking about that he'd have said, "Ira has something freakishly huge for me" What times are you coming and leaving, Misnoma? Wonder if it might not be worth having you bring some things down too if anyone up there has some LPS, softies, zoos etc for sale?
  2. I have two VA1300 powerheads. They work flawlessly.
  3. For several weeks I'd have periods where I couldn't find mine anywhere in the little hex tank he was in and then he'd suddenly be there. I couldn't figure it out. Then I had an idea, the outlet from the cannister filter ran fromunder the tank, through the base up to near the surface and was just an open pipe...I disconnected the outlet hose from the filter took a deep breath and blew into it as hard as I could(It was about 4 feet of head) and after a foosh and a splash there was very startled looking clown loach swimming around in the tank.
  4. The whitespot really isn't exposed directly to the water though, is it? It's under the fish's skin?

I have a couple small clusters of zoanthid polyps and a couple small finger leathers. Got them from the wreckage of a plane that was headed towards auckland that my tribe shot down with a giant bow and arrow.

Anyone from Wellington headed up to Auckland any time soon? Or auckland to Wellington? I've got a few frags I want to send up to Auckland. Otherwise, I dunno, think frags would fit in a fastpost envelope?
  7. Top one looks like an aiptasia. Just nuked a bunch with drano today. Got every one I could find... Then I sat down at my computer next to the tank and there was one left right at the front going like this :bounce: Nyeah nyeah, missed me!!!

I have an interesting big giant flatworm thing in my tank somewhere...Not very pretty but about 2-3" long...Only saw it once, couldn't get a good look at it because it was in the rocks.

Tried it, didn't work. Tried it again, didn't work. Tried it AGAIN, didn't work...
  11. I have some sponges in my tank that, if the picture is slightly blurry and with the addition of bubbles would look identical to that.
  12. With just two small shells you'll never get a noticable increase in the PH. Throw some bird grit in your filter, that will do it.

    Halogen lighting

No, a metal halide bulb will not run in a halogen fitting.
  14. That looks a bit more like a sponge than algae. Has more of a sponge texture, unless that's just the picture...And it's probably not a happy sponge if it's got bubbles in it. Is it in the light, slapper? Or is it under a rock where it doesn't get any light. If it's in the light it's algae, if it's not it's probably a sponge.

My problem is aiptasia in between my zoos. Can't seem to kill them without being more aggressive than I dare because I don't want to hurt the zoos.
  16. Oh, and give all the pipes a clean! I have one filter, an eheim, that is a pain in the butt about clogged pipes. I can clean the pipes out so I'm SURE there's no clog, it'll still be clogged...Then I'll see a clump of garbage going down the pipe where I'm SURE it was clean.
  17. It'll only be a small cycle, probably barely large enough to be measurable since you have it heavily planted and there will be just as much if not more bacteria in the tank on the substrate, plants, glass etc as there is in the filter. I wouldn't worry too much, just maybe give it a few extra water changes for the next couple weeks.
  18. Mine, before I got an anemone, was hosting in a clump of hair algae for a little while and would feed the algae...Traitorous little bass turd...
  19. Sounds like you'd be better off with an undertank heater.

    ASW test results

Bought it from APS, don't remember the company...I just threw the container away today, actually, I'll go rummage around in the trash for it when I get home in the morning.
  21. Hell of a lot more surface area than bioballs...

    ASW test results

That's where I got my last batch. Mag Chlor Hexahydrate. Was $30 for 500 grams if I remember right.

    ASW test results

I'm just going by the numbers on http://home.comcast.net/~jdieck1/chem_calc3.html Magnesium Chloride anhydrous would be 200g ish to increase 150 liters by 200ppm.

    ASW test results

Anyone that uses ASW tested their salt lately? I tested mine a few days ago. Crystal Sea KH 9.3 (Good) Calcium 390 (Low) Magnesium 1050 (WAY low!) That's all I tested. I've got some chemicals on the way to fix those though. Going to be like 400grams of magnesium I'll have to add each water change!
