  1. had the kindy goldfish in the tank with some others and low and behold.. one has been eaten.. not sure how i am gona explain that to the kindy. :-? but all i found of the fish was the tail and the back bone. it wasnt a small goildfish either. I also think that some of the small shubs have also been eaten as there doesnt seem to be that many in the tank as when i first put them in there. :-?
  2. we have had the red ears for over 16 months now.. we have mostly females.. as the males chat them too much and the females attack them.. i have the baby snake on with the adult snakes and it seems happy..
  3. The adult snakes are not as weird looking as the babies.. i have found the snakenecks have a great personality, but then again so do all our red ears..one diff i have noticed though, is that the reds chase food fast where as a fish can live with the snake necks and not be bothered at all. we have only 3 male reds now as they were chatting the girls too much and got attacked..
  4. have advertised the filter in trade and exchange along with a 2ft turtle tank that can have the ramp removed..
  5. no i dont breed the reds.. i am addicted.. lol.. not sure whether i want to sell the baby snakeneck as yet.. but will let you know if i do..
  6. Hi B&K Levin has been rainy,fine,rainy.. We have one baby snakeneck unrelated though.. I reckon the snakes have more personalitly than the red ears.. mind u we have 21 reds.. We did have a big red in with the snakenecks but they picked on her. . so she went in with our other big red females.. I saw the adult snakes at the napier aquarium and got addicted..
  7. We have one very randy male snakeneck.. he sems to be forever at the female.. should we remove him to give her a break?? they are in a large 4ft tank by themselves. she doesnt seem to be under any stress at the moment but i am thinking maybe he needs to move out for a wee while??
  8. thanx guys for all yr advice and kind thoughts.. at the prices baby snakenecks r i cant afford to replace him and my partner has said NO WAY. so the little guy is going to have to live out his days on his own.. we do have a large pair of snakenecks though.. hopefully she will lay eggs as he's a randy buga..
  9. yeh he did get sucked up the intake pipe. his foot. i didnt find him until he was well and truely gone.. .. i have removed that particular filter from that tank now and am using a different one..
  10. . .. We lost one of our baby snakenecks to the fluval 103 external filter.. .. Any suggestions as to what type of filter to use particularly for babies?? We have 22 large terrapins.. including 2 adult snake necks and use large external filters.. were using internal but they were useless.. cheers
  11. ok.. there is one at wetpets $205 but thats too dare.. there is another large arowana there not sure if he's a silver one though..
  12. ok.. that great news then.. would one be ok with Giant Gourami??
  13. I want to buy a Silver Arowana.. but upon talking to the guy at Hutt Pets yesturday, he said that they dont live for years and years.. being about 3 -4 yrs and then they die for no reason.. .. I said i was interested in BALDRICK their giant Gourami but i didnt have a tank big enough for him... (he had been sold 2 weeks earlier ).. My boys wanted to know where he was.. lol.. So after hearing about the Arowanas maybe not living for years and years, i asked if you can buy the Giants as Babies and YES.. I said COOL.. So we are going to buy a baby Giant Gourami.. will have a tank all set up for him or her.. Anyone know whether Arowanas have a short life?? cheers
  14. yeh they do move super fast when they dont wanna be caught in a net.. lol..
