  1. Not to be too pedantic, but that's only correct if whatever it is weighs one kilogram per liter, which for example is only accurate for water at a 4 degrees C (It's less dense above and below) You cannot directly convert from mg/liter to parts per million that simply without knowing the atomic weights of what you're measuring and doing some math. But mg/L=ppm is usually not going to throw your measurements off any more than the hobby grade equipment and test kits do.

Most south american fish it's the correct water color.
  4. Don't worry, it'll happen soon, right after pet shops start selling 100MPG carburetors....
  5. Interesting...Ballast might be giving off heaps of radio noise. The frequencies of TV stations in NZ range from somewhere around 60 mhz to 700 mhz, so I'd be surprised if it's interfering with all of them? Try wrapping some aluminum foil around the ballast.

An hour is a bit too long. If you're constantly killing off a percentage of the bacteria, of course it's going to delay the cycle.
  7. Nice job narrowing it down there.
  8. Geophagus Surinamensis(Or your preferred synonym). My favorite fish.
  9. Mmm, Bourbon and coke...It's no limoncello, but it's still good.
  10. Severums are usually pretty calm, I assume the tetras are fairly large? So they probably won't be lunch once the severum gets bigger.

Looks to me like it's because they're concrete blocks, not normally inert clay bricks. Concrete will raise the PH a lot.
  12. Calling them Nemos is grounds for being banned from ever owning anything even remotely marine tank related.
  13. Whopper Jr?
  14. Baby Inanga are whitebait, but whitebait are not baby Inanga.
  15. Just man up and suck on it!

And the only difference between a 2 foot and a 4 foot fitting really is a little bit of metal to add the extra 2 foot of length and fractionally larger ballast. They're practically identical.
  17. Sweet! You need to put in 3 anglefish.
  18. There's really no difference water qualitywise to poop being in the filter or on the bottom of the tank, except that it's more work to clean the filter to get rid of the poop than it is if it's on the bottom of the tank.
  19. Wait until you suck on the outlet of a cannister filter and get a mouthful of that gunk that always gets spit out from them.

    Centrifugal blowers?
  22. I have this theory that it's best to eat them all at once. That way your digestive system is overrun with chocolate and can't absorb as high a proportion of it. That way you don't get as fat.

I just had a look on the nzmas site, someone there is selling something I might be able to make work. Seems noone sells double ended lamps for growing plants, but we can probably make do....

More a mirror above the bulb to reflect the light downwards and keep from wasting over half the light.

Get me a good, cheap, reflector, Phoenix and I'd be willing to share some with you...
