  1. Bettas don't care a bit if you have sand, gravel or nothing at all on the bottom of the tank.
  2. The fish doesn't just stop growing because of a smaller tank. It grows slower due to poor health and stress.
  3. Except cannisters should never be used with marines, especially with corals.
  4. Best not to do anything as far as healing, just make sure you have good clean tank water to put him in and try to minimise the actual wound size.
  5. What does it need USB and software updates for? Is it going to be like windows and you'll have to wait for the release of Eheim Service Pack 2 before your filter will actually pump water?
  6. Too much food, too much light, too little water changes. There's no point in starting over because unless you fix the cause of the algae you'll just end up right where you are now.
  7. There are paradise and leopardfish...That's about it.
  8. They're brackish, but will survive for a while in freshwater.
  9. Then you're doing it wrong, you don't fill the sumps to the brim while it's running. Ideally what you would do is fill the sump up as much as it can hold before turning the pump on and have the main tank filled to whatever level it would stop overflowing(Or siphoning if that's the lowest point) then turn the pump on.
  10. My hot water is low pressure. And yes, the old pump was similar pressure, Just the new one has the same head capacity, roughly double the flow and using a bit less electricity.
  11. There's nothing particularly harmful between the intake of the filter and the media that would stop them. It's getting pumped back out through the impeller that might hurt them. But they shouldn't get that far.
  12. That's what I just said, "There's no point having extra flow that forces you to restrict the pump."
  13. Leave the tap there, if you ever want to run the display tank with out the sump you are going to need it, or you will have to lower the water level in the display to below the drain inlet. Which will be just slightly lower than the normal water level when it's running over the overflow. Not a significant probelm. And if it's going to be permanent it's better to put a permanent cap on the end of it just in case of an overfilling accident.
  14. Yeah, I agree, ditch the tap on the inlet side, no need with an overflow. I assume this is going to be freshwater? So there's no point in having a lot of extra flow so you need to restrict the pump. If it was saltwater more flow is always good and you can use the bypass water off the pump to run a skimmer, media reactors etc, but that isn't the case.
  15. Yes, you can. Salt will be negligable and totally gone if you rinse it to get any dust out. Boiling it would be a waste of time and electricity, there's no need. And Deno, you'd want to because it looks nice.
  16. I'm waiting until I can get a computer about 10X as fast as my current one for around $1500. Going to be a little while. But, I can still play Fallout3 at a reasonable frame rate so I feel no huge urge to upgrade.
  17. If you do, build me a PC too, please. I need one to put my terrabyte hard drive that doesn't work with my current PC into.

    Bugger the rain

    It's nice and sunny here.
  19. The latest detonator drivers, I believe, would work. They don't do card specific ones.
  20. Hmmm, Tried updating the video card drivers? From what I can see that resolution should be well within the video card's ability, but it's not actually putting it out correctly.
  21. I've never really got the saltwater ponds. I mean...There are more greeblies living in saltwater than freshwater around the world.
