  3. can be done if both intro'ed at same time, but beardie may bite the food from blueys mouth. Would not recommend it.
  4. the silica sand from stone and water world has a warning on the large bags- it says you must use a mask when applying as the dust is carcenogenic shame as it looks really good and the lizards leave really cool track patterns in it.
  5. merc vapours have own built in reflector- you mean something to screw them into?? If so try Hislop and Barley in Mt Roskill and ask for ceramic baton holder.
  6. does not really matter when you do it. I do mine 2 weeks from now, as they are normally housed outdoors. you could move him elsewhere in the house if too warm. you should not brumate dragons until they are full size and have some extra weight.
  7. I buy in bulk and then sell here. compare prices. if you are buying only a few of each product then cost is prohibitive. I sell the merc. vapours for $55 NZD and if you bought them in oz they would be $58 AUD- go figure. Best thing if you want a particular product is find people that want the same thing and put in a group order. Basically by selling a product that you have imported yourself you will cover most of your costs for personal use of the product- but you won't make a fortune. Arguable if it is really worth it, but with the merc. vapours there was no similar product here so I had no choice. What were you looking for specifically? I can check with my guys and get you a price...
  8. drop 1 hour per 2 days, down to 10 per day. Feed well and when you think he has weight on then stop feeding for 1 week. Then fill bottom of the tank with straw that he can burrow under. Then turn lights and heat of completely and put a blanket over the tank. He may take a few days to burrow. Then just leave him be. Have a sniff once every few days to make sure no strange smells. You can then leave him for 2-4 months and he will be fine. It is CRUCIAL that you do not wake him up during this time- just let him sleep. This works fine as long as temp does not drop below 10 C. You do not want him in a room over 25 C though as his metabolic rate will not allow him to brumate. I have done this for 20 beardies now and have had no trouble- but this is my experience only, some risk is laways associated with wintering. When you wake him up, just increase light and heat to normal and remove straw. He will be very alert and eat heaps. 3 weeks later will be ready to breed.
  9. buy a merc vapour off me for $55, this will solve the problem. I would also recommend adding some calcium to food, turtle treats from bio suppliers work well.
  10. komodo dragons can be pathogenic too. makes it easy for species to colonise new areas.
  11. I would say release where you collected the taddies from. Reason being is the spread of chytrid fungus.
  12. cool. not for me but for reptile park. trying to get a large group as this apparently increases breeding success.
  13. let them go in your nearest church on sunday- the more fundamentalist the better. then next week you could do frogs.....lol
  14. Anyone know of any shinglebacks in private hands? willing to swap for leopard geckos? I have not come across any for ages.......I already know about the ones on K's website.
