  3. anyone keep Litoria rainiformis? Green frog with warts..
  4. i winter mine no heat and no light- blanket over tank for 6 weeks. put in paper with straw that they can burrow into. wintering always best during winter. under 15c bad news, but 17 very good. in desert north of adelaide temp gets very low, but i don't risk it.
  5. try no heating at night, if he really does not want to get up in the morning then give him 3 weeks no heat and just fluoros 8 hours a day. you are right typically best not for brumation to occur first year, but if his body says so then you need to give him the option of shutting down. what size is he? and also are u sure it is male, in my experience males esp. need brumation.
  6. how old is he and have u wintered him ever?
  7. will sell leps end next year, ..prob $1500 each.
  8. i did a survey on a piece of land with Native fish society - rosedale road - predevelopment in 2000 and found giant kokupu and crans bullies- according to the council no signifigant fish there...bulll dozed now- council approves council gets rates..resource management act my a-se
  9. sweet. but how does one go about it- short of working for maf?? petition? dont think enough people realise the issue, and compared to CJD, foot and mouth and fruitflies we would be way down the list..
  10. called charcoal grit. also can get coffee(orange) and greenish one. I use in all cages. from stone and water world in ellerslie auckland.
  11. exactly- you need a licensing system- like the one in aus. no licence no sale. the person who sells has to fill in you licence and you fill in theirs. you need to keep records and have a known address that officials can search at any time without a warrant...pretty basic really and it works..if reptiles turn up without a breeders details...
  12. it will happen- need to pay my power bill somehow....
  13. nope, but i am trying to buy them...expensive but work it out, they lay say 1000 eggs and you kill say 90%, you still have 100 to sell for $100 each.....and im confident i can have a low mortality rate...
  14. the best thing about beardies is that look freaky but act very friendly. frogs i bought on trade me- albino aurea, they are cool but like the leps the best.
  15. Maybe they could legalise everything that has been here for many years and has had to be under the radar? Anyone with a green iguana or green water dragon will keep it quiet...the animals will be killed- even tho the people that sold them were the bad dudes..... If its been here for years, legalise it. when you do that then you will know if stuff comes in illegally and recently...and the smuggling will be less profitable. Introduce a licensing system and charge exotic keepers a fee, say $200 a year. $100 goes to admin and paying for the system and the other $100 could go to Doc. Everyone wins..problem is what's that saying? you pay peanuts you get monkeys?? well last i checked the guys at maf were not paid very well.....
  16. Taken over the last week.... beardie hatchie is from yellow dad.
  17. live worm thing i think is a myth. young dragons i think have trouble digesting the exoskeleton of the mealworm- baby mealworms or mealworms that have just shed probably different.
  18. good point, sorry assumed it was a baby beardie in which case i would not feed mealworms. when bigger sweet as.
  19. agreed, would just be a guess at that size. cute tho
  20. only aus snakes can be kept in aus...legally anyway..
