  1. Yep and I also had to sell one of the kids
  2. I would do nothing different. From my experience once they start breeding the are hard to stop.
  3. Recently there was a pair of gold nuggets for sale on trademe. After some research and good advice from a forum member I decided to take the punt and buy them. They are not a proven pair but have been living together in the same tank for quite some time without fighting, the photo's on the auction looked like a male and female but were not great shots. I will post some pics later in the week when they arrive :bounce: :bounce: Any info that anyone can provide from personal experience would be great

  6. Gday Majik. Long time no talk. I no longer have your lovley discus. they all went to good homes free of charge. I have become addicted to fancy plecs. How are things with you?
  7. If it's stuff that wont melt or burn get them damp and chuck them in the microwave for a minute or two. Job done :bounce:
  8. When I was younger I used to breed budgies. I had pure breed albino's, leutino's, pieds, harlequins etc etc Working out which genes where dominant and which were recessive seemed relatively easy especially when I experimented with cross breeding. It seems to me that fish genetics is way more complicated. Perhaps this due to extensive cross breding, inbreeding and line breeding in home and commercial aquaria?
  9. Ok so I have 2 green severums that came from a spawn of over 250 that are white. In certain light conditions faint strips can be seen. I would not call them albino's coz they have black eyes. What would you call them?

  12. I forgot to mention that his appetite for snails has developed from small common snails to large adult ramshorns. It's a good thing the we have snails galore. To start with he wasn't too fussed on the crickets but they are now his favourite over snails, heart, prawns, trout pallets and cichlid sticks. feeder fish are still number 1. His colour has improved dramatically Still no meds used
  13. 2 holes about finger nail size have now almost completely healed. The largest hole about thumb nail size is just starting to heal. He is now a lot more active and his appetite is back to ravenous instead of picky :bounce: :bounce:
  14. Nah Its Bourbon time now. But I did enjoy my beer earlier after a long day at work
  15. Geeez man.....And i was just starting to like you. You have done it now
  16. Thanks for the pic's. Mine definately doesn't have the tail strip, is more brown in colour and the spots are easier to see. Must be like your 2nd undetermined species. I am devoting another 5 footer to pleco's in a week or two ( Im thinking of putting a divider or 2 in it for breeding. I am always on the lookout for more species. Please PM if you can help. Cheers.
  17. I paid $140. It's a bit steep for what it is. I should have waited a bit and got some off mr pleco but i get a bit impulsive at times
  18. yep his colouring is solid (not patchy) in the tank and is dark brown. He has no white strip on the tail just a white mark at the top of the tail, I couldnt see a white mark at the bottom. I will let him mature to be sure of his sex and then contact you to find him a partner. Cheers
  19. What size tank would i need for one of those
  20. Yep I Recon he's a L100 You better put me on the list for a couple of Females mr pleco
