  1. Two coats of black gloss paint.
  2. I built it using heart rimu from an old deck. PVA and 3" screws. No cover/lid. Just 3 sheets of poly. Was easy as.
  3. Hi and Welcome PP. Please show us some photo's of your Paludariums
  4. Holes in leaves may be lack of Potassium. Browning may be lack of calcium.... Alanmin will know.
  5. There is nothing for me to understand imo. Most discus strains for sale in NZ look Orange. What is there to understand?
  6. Beware Thermal Imaging Cameras At Airports lmao
  7. Yes the wild browns are not half bad. I kind of envisage these orange discus more at home in the '60's when flower-power was the rage. Except the stoner's would most likely have them in a gold fish bowl in their VW peace bus. ROFL.
  8. No worries, I am totally interested in the strains and all details. I am not interested in the mass bred mongrels or ORANGE.
  9. Seen them and they are still orange imo. Great specimen's. Still not worth that price though.
  10. Wow, You totally pulled off an awesome background!
  11. I do not like albino. But I shan't go on about that or else I would get in trouble.
  12. I want to know why most strains of Discus are mostly Orange, or shades of Orange? I hate orange, and all golden shades Why are their no real Red ones? I mean true red, not the dark orange ones which are passed on as red. The only other common strains are Blue Turq. or Blue cobalt. And yes I have trolled through all those asian fish comp./farm threads of endless Discus which all look the same. Sure they are healthy specimens. But talk about boring. All I could think of was caged chickens about the mass bred, bare tanks of bored fish. I have to admit I don't like Discus anyway. All they do all day is sit there treading water. IMHO it would be of better value to have a painted rock in my tank in the shape of, than spend money on a boring shade of Orange fish which just sits there all day.
  13. I love blue Dempseys but have no experience with them. I have no suggestions with those tankmates.
  14. What size tank? What are the fish in the tank already?
  15. I know it is such a sad state of affairs when all you have left in the pantry is fresh eggs lol. They are so amazingly delicious even if you only get to eat half the egg.
  16. Tear. I had white spot a couple of years ago in a 350L tank. It was so much cheaper to so the salt route.
  17. I will try that. Round end or pointy end? Does your fresh = my fresh? As in laid a few hours ago? My fresh eggs don't go grey.... The key if I remember correctly is to heat the egg from cold, in cold water. No grey then.
  18. That is why your QT/Hosp tank ideally would be 40-60L. Then any dose is small compared with the main tank.
  19. I love whistleys. I will have to look into that fountain thingy.
  20. Why do fresh hens eggs not hold together when you boil them? Half the white peels off with the skin. Of course this is acceptable seeing as they taste so fantastically delicious. But....
  21. You could open the lid and wipe out the inside with a towel every morning, this should fix the problem if it is condensation
  22. 2tsp salt per US gallon. 2tsp per 3.75L. Turn your temp up 1*C per day until you reach 30*C. Treat for 2 weeks. Watch closely for signs of fish stress and slow the temp rise. IME add salt using an airline hose from a bucket over 3 days. So drain out 1/3 of the tank, add 1/3 total salt and drain back in slowly. (or 30-40L) Add salt to new water when you are doing water change. Then take two weeks after dosing to reduce the salt levels. Fish acclimatise easily but reducing the chemistry hardness (terminology???) shoudl be slower.
