Caryl...I havent seen any advertised in blenheim recently but i will keep a lookout. I after rabbit that wont grow too big, i did have mini lop eared rabbits before and they were really good, easy to look after. if and when your friend has another litter could you let me know please?? thanks Caryl i have had rabbits before, 2 sisters and they lived very happily together and couldnt bear to be seperated, i never had any problems with them. They both lived to the age of 3, one got sick and died then the other died of a lonely heart a few weeks later. No i am looking for alive ones...but you are right there are plenty at the supermarket!

I live in Nelson and I am after some baby rabbits. Does anyone in Nelson or Blenheim breed or have some baby rabbits? I am considering having 2 females, but maybe 1 male and 1 female. Can anyone help? I have looked on Trade Me but there are none in the Nelson/Blenheim region.

Does anyone breed mice on here? Or know someone who does? You can get different colours eg seal point etc. Also apparently you can get curly coated mice. Anyone got any info?? Thanks

I can see exactly where everyone is coming from. I am 24 and to be blatantly honest, i have nothing. Well I have a car (mine, all paid off, but I did tick it up, but paid off as quick as i could) but we all know cars depreciate in value the moment you drive off the lot. I have a student loan which is about to double (to approx $5000) if i could I love to get rid of it tomorrow. But I am brainy enough to have no credit card and nothing else ticked up. I am working 2 jobs to pay my bills. When I say my bills I mean : Rent, Power, Home Phone, Cell Phone Account, Petrol, Groceries. All of that is approx $300 a week. Then if I have any left over I save half or more. Whats left after that I buy something small for myself (usually less than $10) to remind me its not all bad and it will get better. I do not waste any money on stuff I dont need. After this week I will have only 1 job. And currently just my bills (not including my pitance saving andless than $10 spent on myself) will out weigh what I earn. So I will have to start skimping on petrol, (damn stupid bus service here) might have to ditch the cellphone all together, get really queer about turning lights off when not using etc, and just not eat heaps (tell 3 guys to cut back on the eating cause I cant afford it!! They earn 3-4 times a week what I earn!!!) Nevermind. I do know eventually all of this wont matter. One day I will marry my current partner, have kids and between the 2 of us eventually buy a house. So its not all that bad! But I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WITH EVERYONE OUT THERE who is a similar position or worse

I had some tadpoles last year and i got 3 to grow into frogs, but eventually they all died. some tadpoles didnt even grow legs, what did i do wrong with the tadpoles? the frogs lived in a converted fish tank, with plants, a swimming 'hole' which was a plant pot bottom, they had stones and spaghnum moss. got fed regularly..... what did i do wrong? id love to give it another go, but i dont wanna get it wrong. i would like to grow frogs form tadpoles and not have them die, thats not why you get pets... you dont wanna kill them! any advice would be great thanks

yeah SPCA here has volunteer work too (am doing that) there is things i can study here too, i have looked at lots of options, i just cant afford to study, sounds silly i know (already have a student loan from my Animal Care course last year) if i work while studying i struggle and my results arent as good as they could be. Unfortunately no-one in my family has (Edit) money either (not that i would take handouts at any time for anything, im too stubbon!) I dont really want to move, but maybe i have too! and about the insurance reception/office work....dont have alot of experience with that, so i dont know how much i would like it or even if i would be good at it! thanks anyways

i have done the Animal Care course through NMIT and I am wanting to do the Vet Nursing course though NMIT as well (possibly next year) i want to put some money aside to make this slightly easier. working part time and studying isnt as easy as it sounds (i did this with my animal care course) i am open to doing volunteer work and i know that some of the time that it can turn into a paid job. i am very happy to do work for free or very little as while i am doing this i am learning about all sorts of things to do with animals. to answer an earlier question, yes i would love to start my own business, but i wouldnt know where to start! Or even what i could do as there are SO many options out there and it has to be something that has a niche, not something that 100's of others are doing!! Something totally original. I dont wanna steal anyone's ideas, but anyone got any ideas??? I used to do some dog walking and pet sitting when i lived up north, but theres not much of a call for it down here.... any other ideas/guesses?

thanks for all your help. yes i realise there are people out there who are looking for jobs and cant find any. i do realise that i am lucky enough to have a job (even though it is part time and i am struggling to pay the bills, and am now working 2 jobs so i do know what its like to struggle thank you very much) yeah i have been plastering myself all over town. if im at work having a so so day and someone walks past work with a dog or something it makes my day to just give it a pat and have a chat with the owner. its not just a hobby, animals are my life! thank you for all the comments even if something of them werent overly positive.

Hello all Many time the people on this site have helped me with various things ranging from gravel to building things... so i thought this would be a good place to start before I tear my hair out!!! some of you might be in a similar position so this might be benifical! Righto here we go: I am in need of getting out of damn retail work (have been for some time really) and I am really wanting to get into something with animals. I have done some study, oodles of work in various SPCA's and cattery/kennels. But I am finding it hard to get a job (any job) with animals. Have any of you got any suggestions/ideas. Or is someone else in the same position? Please someone help, I dont wish to be stuck in retail for the rest of my life, its too boring and really doesnt have anything to do with animals, the only thing that makes my day now is when i go home to all my animals... dont think my boss would like it if I bought them to work!!!

i have a female cat who was as nice as pie then came along another cat, well actually kitten, a wee black one. he was 4 weeks old and insisted on trying to maul my female cat. she was like 8 times his size. as he grew he got a little better but still hunting down my female and terrorising her. then we got the black cat fixed, that same day he came home, straight out of his cage and launched himself on to my poor female bengal. eventually he got better. they used to sleep together on the couch and even play together but sometimes they used to fight really bad, to the point where one of them would get injured. what i guess im trying to say is give it time after snowball is fixed (the change doesnt happen instantly). Make sure that you try your best to pay equal attention to both cats, but when the other cat goes nuts and starts attacking you or yoor family, make sure you tell him off, they do sorta understand. he will get the jist soon and wont be an a$$. they will eventually live in harmony together! dont give up on them!
