  1. omg dont tempt me.id have to get them on the way back home....oh now i want to go have a look!
  2. Does anyone know a good place to stay in chch? I need a place that is child friendly, reasonably cheap under $120 a night as I am only staying 1 night on my way up to Nelson and 1 night on the way back down to Dunedin. I am planning on going to Willowbank with my daughter so somewhere sort of close to that would be nice. Any ideas? Thanks
  3. Does every town or city need a pet store? Yes or no?
  4. going to be used for hunting as well as just a family member
  5. Lab/german wirehaired point or purebred wirehair german pointer...?? Does anyone know much about these 2 breeds? Both used for hunting. Looking at getting a dog, either one of these breeds and I know what labs are like when they are older (health problems etc) so I was wanting to know if there are any health concerns or issues I should know about lab/pointer cross or purebred pointer? thanks
  6. Hey, I have started my own business from home so I can still have my family time without going back to work.... I have added my website to my signature. Hope everyone is having a fab day! Nice and frosty here in Otago!
  7. lol, my skin is good!!!! it was more because i sit at home alot and watch tv when my wee one is asleep and i see LOTS of home shopping ads and i was interested to know if it actually worked! much like the bio mag.....lol does it work like they say it does... and that silly ad for stonedine pans etc....the home shopping ads drive me mad, but im sure someone out there has bought something off the tv before!
  8. Has anyone used or know someone who has used Proactiv? I just want to know if it really does what it says it does!! :dunno:
  9. its easy to maintain the fire at night. i either put a couple of large logs (half a tree round) on before bed (around 10pm) and then when i wake in the middle of the night 3 or 4am (because of child) i just restoke it. I hardly ever sleep through the night so no issues there!
  10. thats really interesting. so even though they call it a 'wetback' its not really a wetback! we live about 50mins south of dunedin now and id say 9.5 out of 10 home have a fire. all the neighbours had their fires lit WAY before we did!! im just getting the arguement from my partner that it would end up being the same amount of cost to run a heat pump as it would be to use wood. although the heat pump doesnt heat as far around the house. trying to win the battle so that heating can go on in the house!!
  11. Which is better? We have both fire and heatpump and I am trying to decide which will be better. Heres some info so you can vote fire or heatpump lol: Our heat pump is in the lounge and heats the lounge and kitchen well, but doesnt heat the hallway and 3 bedrooms overally well, unless we turn up the degrees (using more power and more $$$$) Fire is in the kitchen/dining room, huge box fire (biggest one you can have in a residental area) and is on wetback so heats the hot water. We can get wood easierly as my partner works in the forest. I was thinking the fire would be better as it heats the water as it heats the house (2 birds with 1 stone) so that we arent using power to heat the water and the powerbill will be abit smaller The issue we are having is the age old male vs female whats better and cheaper to run. The heat pump (not sure what it is an hour) or the fire which heats the water and uses fuel that is techincally free except for the time getting the wood and chopping it up. Does anyone have a view on this???
  12. a photo of the wallpaper (as good as i could get it) so you get the idea!
  13. 1 or 2 mm at the most feels like paper lol maybe a little brittle no sheen to it really as far as i am aware it hasnt been used for anything other than a spare/guest room.
  14. good idea but i dont need to hang like picture frame pictures. im putting things like photos (just the photos) postcards, foam shapes etc on my daughters walls. i cant have hooks or anything she can get off the wall!!
  15. I am trying to decorate a room with textured wallpaper ARGH!!!!! its driving me nuts :nilly: NOTHING will stick to it. I have tried blue-tack, sticky tape rolled up into a circle, double sided sticky tape, masking tape, packing tape, electrical tape (as you can tell I have tried ALLLLLLL the tapes!). I have tried wiping down the walls just incase there is something on them, with warm water, warm water with cleaner in it, cold water, turps and meths......... does anyone have any other ideas? Ive put a few things up on the walls with pins or tacks but I dont want to cover the wall with them or put holes in the pictures. Its not time to rip wallpaper down yet or paint, sticking things to the wall is just temp! Help me please!
  16. thanks sophia but i didnt really want to order from the US. its may come to that. but im sure i can use my skills to create one!

  18. i bet the people that work here are much more relaxed and actually enjoy their jobs!
  19. Caryl thats a great idea!! the only thing is EVERYTHING animal catches her eyes. Shes only 10 months old, but loves anything animaly to bits. Ive never seen any one get so excited over cats/dogs/fish/chickens/horses....etc.... you name it she squeals with delight and shakes all over! Its a crack up.
  20. Ive finally got around to unpacking and setting up my tank again after moving nearly a year ago!! I cant decide what to get fish wise this time. My tank is approx 40 litres, internal filter and has lights. It is square in shape. I have a young daughter and was wanting to get her into fish one day (too young for it now) but I'd LOVE to get some fish that are interesting to watch: so.... colourful, maybe a bit showy (if you know what I mean), fast moving (but not too fast so her eyes can keep up with them) maybe a schooling fish? I used to keep tetras and thought they might be good as they are pretty easy to keep. Any suggestions people? Also what could I plant the tank up with? Thanks
  21. great going to give it a go. they are in the insulation in the garage, on a hot day they come crawling out. i will try and get a photo, as there is SO many. it would be a birds dream if we could get them in there!
  22. My house and garden is FULL of these. Our garage is practically crawling with them! And I am lucky enough to find them in the house from time to time. How do I get rid of them in the garage so they dont come inside? Would one of those bug and insect spray ie raid or mortein be the way to go? Please help, they are pretty big, so I dont really want to try and hit them just incase I miss!!
  23. haha great. that sounds like fun to watch. my cat loves to play with Emmas toys, picks them up and takes them away and hides them, hahahaha
  24. thats a good idea. the bladders are good because they can smack them with their hands and pick them up no matter what size their hands are.
  25. haha, nope you dont put the baby in it! na they cost too much. i whole idea of the bladder is to make a cheap homemade toy. so you dont have to spend heaps and heaps. you put coloured water and things like glitter and coloured foil etc in it and it makes a really neat toy for the baby... plunket had one and my wee girl just LOVED it!
