    Bugger!

    That sucks like hell :tears:
  2. Your comments are so random. You're hilarious
  3. Oh no that really sucks :tears: Maybe you could remove the mother incase she decides to randomly eat the fry? Animal Anitcs at Mt. Maunganui have some male and female Cockatoos. They are gorgeous! They're $18.50 each. Shipping is quite cheap too - they're shipping me three fish to Blenheim for $30!
  4. I wish! This is an Amano scape. And I did go to school yesterday!
  5. Wow that's cool, I never knew that

    Shrimp

Out of interest, does anyone know how many different species of freshwater shrimp we can get in NZ and what ones can be acclimatised to tropical water?
  8. Mine just says 'Chat Room' and when I click on it, the forum index page comes up.

  10. Congratulations By chat room, I'm assuming people are meaning the forums :dunno: I'm getting confused by people posting stuff, saying they can't get on etc, when they have already just posted that on the forums... So is it some other website thingy?

    New Books

Could I borrow The Complete Book of Dwarf Cichlids and the Amano book please? :bounce: :happy1:
  12. Thanks Caryl, that will be great! This week I'm also getting a couple of 300x300x200mm boxes made (out of plywood) :bounce:
  13. Yeah that's exactly what I did; I also used the potting mix bag, and tried several layers of shopping bags, but moisture always managed to find its way into the wood

    Shiny! :happy2:
  15. Cool thanks guys. If I make my own wooden boxes, what box size is recommended? I want something that isn't too small. What do I paint the box with so it doesn't rot? (this has happened to my Whiteworm boxes in the past). Some sort of wood varnish? And to put the box together, screws or nails? And what type? BTW I'm thinking of making it out of plywood because we have tonnes of it at the moment.
  16. Here's my male. Sorry the photo is blury in some parts. Notice how the first few fin rays of the dorsal fin are becoming elongated, and the red is stretching further down his body?

What have you added Caryl? Anything along the line of plants/aquascaping and dwarf cichlids? :bounce:
  18. Hey everyone, I am thinking of culturing some whiteworms in icecream containers, with a square in the middle of the lid cut out with netting over it for ventilation, and I'm going to use potting mix as the culture medium. Is this a good idea? Does anyone have any suggestions or any better, more succesful ways to culture Whiteworms? Should I use wooden boxes instead of icecream containers? Thanks, Joe
  19. I had better not get on the wrong side of you then  I went and got some potting mix for whiteworm cultures today. I'm going to try them again in icecream containers, with my new ventilation system.
  20. Cool thanks Jennifer Speaking of whiteworms, I was thinking of trying them in an icecrean with peat, but I know that they don't like low pH. Would it be a wise idea to add a bit of lime?
