    Moyas 460L setup

Wow this is going to be an amazing tank set-up thread and I think your tank is incredible and I can't wait to see it planted :bounce: Keep the discus they will look awesome in that tank For shoaling fish I think Espei Rasboras will look lost in that tank because it is so big and you will have to buy heaps before they're noticable. I reckon that you should go for the rainbows or get some Hemigrammopetersius caudalis or some Congo Tetras. I have kept the H. caudalis before and they are very active and are really cool so I reackon you should try some in this tank
  3. Hey everyone, I was thinking of getting a couple of 30watt T8 PowerGlos as I need to change the tubes in my lighting hood. I have heard a lot of good things about them and that they are great for growing plants and phoenix44's and Jennifer's display tanks are proof of that. I was at the pet shop the other day and I was talking to one of the staff and I was telling him about my plants and how I needed to change my light tubes and was thinking of getting the PowerGlos. He told me that PowerGlos are OK for plants but GroLux tubes are way better by far and put out more lumens and he uses them on his tanks and he has amazing plant growth. He said he can order some in for me if I want to get them. So guys, PowerGlo or GroLux? Thanks, Joe
  4. No don't make ice cubes out of it because you will chill the roots of the plants and they won't like that and it seems silly when you can just use the JBL Balls. Laterite is best used when setting up a tank or redoing a tank when you are able to put a layer under the substrate. Laterite is an iron-rich clay that has undergone weathering for thousands of years. From this site: http://home.infinet.net/teban/substrat.htm
  5. Get a big tank (120x60x60cm) with a good filter and try mass-breeding these and sell them cheap; - Danio margaritatus - Hemigrammopetersius caudalis - Hemigrammus rhodostomus - Paracheirodon axelrodi Hopefully you'll make a good profit. To start off breeding, you only need about ten fish, and then after that you'll have hundreds of fry which you can then breed when they are mature and then you'll make even more money lol
  6. +1 Organism is an excellent shop
  7. Wow that is looking really nice phoenix Those little gouramis are really cute  The cardinals look amazing swimming around the branches
  8. Get rid of the Rummies and get Boraras briggitae or Danio margaritatus :bounce: Both are lively and active and don't mind a lot of light. Rummynoses prefer subdued lighting.
  9. Awesome If you PM me your address I can send you some Xmas Moss and Windelov Fern if you like
  10. JBL Manado is a lot more red than that Burnt Sienna stuff and it is also porous so bacteria can colonise it, plus it absorbs and stores nutrients and releases them when the plants need them, so much better than Burnt Sienna IMO. It is roughly about $30-$35 for a 5L bag, so not too expensive either.
  11. Wow looking awesome Sophia! Those little rasboras are gorgeous  How are those Crypts doing that I gave you?
  12. Ok cool. The only ones that I'm interested in are M. elatinoides and M. propinquum. When I get better lighting then I can start searching for these
  13. Cool thanks supasi Are all those legal or are they illegal?
  14. Cyperus helferi is a billion times better looking than val and E. uruguayensis and it is leagl and easy to come by Surely somebody knows something about what Myriophyllums we have in NZ
  15. Do you have a list of them because I really want to know what Myriophyllums we have in NZ because I want some in my tank when I get better lighting. So far all I know of is M. aquaticum, M. elatinoides and M. propinquum.
  16. Hey guys, I have been browsing the website since it has been updated (and a huge thank you to those who updated it It is excellent  ) and I was looking at the banned plants page http://www.fnzas.org.nz/?cat=92 and I want to know if those are the only banned plants in NZ or are there others? Also the local pet shop here sells Myriophyllum aquaticum. I take it that's illegal? Thanks Joe
