yes have had java fern do the same in the newts tank, growing on the moss had lids on tank as well to keep humidity up are you planting in the corners as well?

you will be surprised by how big a food they can eat slaters, small mealworms, earthworms, spiders etc usually go down alright -
nice, xmas or java moss will grow nicely on the exposed piece i start it off at waterline with about 12mm up the branch and same below waterline this allows water to "wick" up to the exposed bit and keep it moist

having some of the driftwood coming up out of the water may add another dimension to the scape

if tank is very tall the bottom middle is where the most pressure is drop water level to reduce pressure on that spot

i added to post can aso try vegetable oil on cotton bud to soften skin dry skin can take a few goes to soften

unshed skin?, try misting it or dampen a cotton bud and wipe away at the skin, keep the cotton bud wet don't pull at the skin as you can easily damage good skin underneath leaving a wound prone to infection.
