hey dixon can only guess how long they live for at a guess 10 years + but cant see why they wouldnt live longer given the right conditions as for breeding no i havent basically because females are so hard to find i have a trio here two definite males (hairy) and one poss juvinelle female but time will tell good luck finding a female best way if you cant sex them (i.e see hairs down the body) is to buy four or five and grow them out lol about the cleaning i was only kidding they are pretty useless at cleaning anyway (well mine are guess thats coz they are all male lol )

hey dixon they will be fine in a 300l tank on their own just dont expect them to do all the cleaning up lol ideallly they dont want to be as high as 30 c but they will be fine at that temp (for discus ) to sex them the males grow hairs down the body from the dorsal fin to the tail and females dont, depending on size this is the best way of course females should look chunkier but for their size they are quite chunky anyway HTH

actually imsweet you can breed them as is (i.e bro and sis) yep i know it sounds weird but yr actually fine until about the 6th generation believe it or not this happens in nature as for yr bully probably a male but not definite as mine start developing small bristles at5-6cm but males do tend to chase females off food more often than females chasing females HTH mr pleco

to be honest dixon i have never seen them in the shops but i suspect adults would range from $100 to around $160 dont know for sure as like i said theyare not common and with the brazil bzn and MAf unlikley to see them in the country again

yeah can be hard esp with brazil ban prob have to come in from the states also price means limited ppl can afford them but if a couple of breeders can get some then we could have them here at a lower price and they would be more available but have to convince an importer of that

technically simian all plecos falll under the Loricariidae family wheather they be Ancistrus //Baryancistrus//Hypancistrus or Hypostomus.(common pleco) clear as mud huh

probably a bit small at 5cm but if it isnt showing any small bristles its possible its female probably more round the 7 cm mark but i have seen them breed at 6cm small batches thou

thats wicked !!! firenzenz reckon this is the first time spawned in nz (or is someone goona claim that theres an unreported spawning of these aswell ) good lookin adult too congrads on the spawn looks like we have a new plecogod in the country . ... can wait to see what the babies look like hopefully these will be in the country a long time to come thanks to you im sure catbrat will try to claim he told ya how to build the cave anyway lmao 8)
