  1. first egg ever for your Reeves? well done
  2. I run heat pads in two of my enclosures underneath rocks, in both tanks the beardies actually dig out the sand on the sides of the rocks to get closer to the heat, I myself have had no problems with burning thus far.
  3. sorry to hear this mincie, its allways gutting to lose one, especially out of the blue like this one.
  4. well done, good luck with rearing them up.
  5. Litoria aurea - green & golden bell frog wouldn't leave it in with whistlers at all as they can fit surprisingly large things in their mouthes even when small
  6. Very sad news, I was lucky enough on several occasions over the last couple of years to spend time with Kashin, she was a lovely elephant who has touched many many lives over the years, I remember being a little kid and having one of the Kashin saving accounts and money box. Goodbye Kash, may you now rest easy.
  7. I have to agree with this, I am in my mid thirties and was never smacked that I can recall, but I allways knew if I ever stepped over the mark I possibly would be as a Consequence. It seems there have been a lot of "PC" changes since I was a kid but the main two I believe changed things for the bad was allowing drinking at 18 and taking decipline out of schools and the home, it has taught kids they can do what ever they want with NO CONSEQUENCES, this is why we now have generations with no respect or any regard of how their actions may effect the people around them. The horrible beatings that children receive is not decipline it is assault and should be treated as such I don't know how the two could be mixed up.
  8. yep, you are right LA something very few truely have Snake kid - that is an awesome clip, wonder how many other articles or clips cover this type of interaction
  9. hes done pretty good so far - 20 years together and looks like he has all his limbs still..... might just be one of those freak things between the two
  10. yeah natives are cool, all you need is a permit, not hard to get, just need an outdoor enclosure made to Doc requirements, funnily enough not many people keep native skinks ( legally anyway) if you want info on getting a permit pm me and I will send to you
  11. living art is right, even a permit holder is not allowed wild caught, only captive breed. pretty cool finding one at work though, makes the day interesting, find somewhere quiet outside you work and put it there.
  12. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/fe ... odile.html who needs a dog as your best friend
  13. in my experience the Southerns will eat anything smaller than them including younger southerns, I have not had this problem with green and goldens or whistlers, may depend on size of enclosure.

    beware

Dixon, I have had dealings with the seller before, he does import a lot and has a lot of experience, I was surprised to see an auction from him be questioned, you have sparked my interest however and I would have to agree, after trawling the internet and any books I have it seems he has got it wrong, I too can find nothing on a "wild" marble angel. this is what I love about this forum, i'm always learning new things. keep up the good work...

dixon, you are probably acusing the wrong person with that auction, better make sure you have the facts!
  16. This makes me sick to the stomach, I would be giving these people and those like them one thing - A BULLET
  17. how deep? if too shallow and no muck on the bottom as Living Art suggested then will be struggling with the cold, might be a good idea to bring them in for the rest of winter if possible and re-try next year with the setup more suitable
  18. pretty normal in Auckland, mine stopped eating a couple of months a ago and only appear on a nice sunny day for a bit of sunbathing, just watch them for drastic weight loss or infections on their first winter out.
  19. I have ladder ferns, can take a beating and dont need much water, I have a large container that they are in and also have a water bowl in it as well so when I fill the bowl I just let it overflow.
  20. yeah good to meet you Bulldog, hope the fish settle in ok will have to catch up for a look see good seeing you again Living Art, I have to be careful because everytime I come down I don't get anything else done!!
  21. gee not too sure if i've got enough left for a haircut!!
  22. hmmm, over the shore? if you want I can do, just get bulldogod to let me know where he is, will pm my number to you and yes I am actually working, I feel sorry for the rep i'm coming down with, he's the same one I had dragged in when I first met you, and since then i've dragged the poor bugger all over the place on our trips, somehow he has resisted the reptile bug thus far haha and he actually thinks we will be down just for business!!
  23. where to in Auckland Mark, I will be down on business this Thursday for the day, if it isn't too far out of my way I could bring them back up. would give me an excuse to visit.
  24. I would use a 4 foot fluro with reptile tube and a heat lamp with ceramic fitting, a bit more expensive than the bunning lamps but well worth it, for basking spot I use 100w spots that cost $1.00 at bunnings Also if you get the tank made you should have a look at the baskingspots that stick on, I used to have the glass ramps built in and they can damage their shells on them, now I use either driftwood or the floating ramps for all my turtle tanks
