  4. Hi Firefish, These guys are a lot slower than standard kribs. Do youhave substrate on your tank bottom? sometimes the krib wrigglers will survive in the substrae and as they get bigger will appear as a small cloud of free swimming fry. ma and pa will try and defend them against other fish as best they can but they may be predated hth Nav
  5. Well as you know I have a large collection of fishes...70 ish tanks atm. But the tank in the house has large cichlids in it. I have a few plecs and synos in a 6 ft tank with a small school of Chocolate Cichlids. These fish are great and I would highly recomend them. Get to a good size less aggro than Oscars and much much more colourfull and 10 x the personality. They are highly interactive and the first "big fish" I have kept for any lenght of time Have been looking at some red belly pacu as I have been offered a 3x1.2 x 1.2 19 mm glass tank with steel bracing....need to give it some thought
  6. where is the OMG I want to Vom that is so sickly sweet emote LOL Good luck to the future Mr & Mrs Henward
  7. pity you couldnt catch him I find the best treatment for a pheasent to be spatchcocked and then wrapped in streaky bacon you may or may not stuff the whole bird with juniper or cranberry stuffing and needs to be cooked well some people find the legs difficult to deal with so using the breast as a portion on their own works and then slow poaching the drums and thighs in duck fat is also recomened to cure a limp
  8. yes albino red empress holds breath ryanjury

  13. I liked the"..were inspirational in the decision to persue my Phd...though some days I was more thankful than others"... bit LOL
  14. maybe wasnt suggesting anything dodge Just that the presence of colour...or not ...maybe an idication of parentage especially in a shallow gene pool
  15. It would be fair to assume that all the animals that came form down this way were related at some point That is why when all this kicked off a few yeasr ago it was important to keep records of the dam line And there does seem to be 2 colour morphs ( loose terminology) with yellow and non yellow animals about. So maybe the different dam lines acounts for this....the re breeder may see these posts and comment maybe lots of maybes I know....lol
  16. Go Sump You wont regret it hides a mulitude of sins like intakes and heaters and ugly stuff like that you do have to put a fish catcher on tho and you also need to think about what you feed as some food will go straight into sump also my sumps us a spray bar at teh back bottom of the tank pushing up and out....no mulm on tank floor depending what you keep ....marine for example...you can also use powerheads to make a cross current to shift stuff You can fill wier with stuff to make a pre filter as well HTH Nice tank
  17. I have to agree with you Ruru and LA. When I discussed this with a promenent early breeder he did indeed intend to keep records such as those, but I am unsure if he ever did as his focus was re aligned on other things. I have spoken with a number of other breeders and suggested a "stud book" for the same reasons. easy to do phenotypically and genotypically with digital marvels like cameras these days. Oppinhimer states " as Breeders it is up to us to be the Gaurdian of our chosen breed"
  18. Line bred if it works inbred if it doesnt insert sound track to deliverence here ( dualing Banjos et al)
