  1. I'll take some photos when i take it off, in short, there is nothing to grab hold of to pull the top off.
  2. I made mine pretty tight :dunno: Will it help if i loosen them?
  3. Most people say to leave the original bonding seal alone if the tank is in reasonable condition, and just redo the "seals". In your case the tank might be pretty buggered and require a full strip down and re silicon
  4. Thanks alot, now i have that song stuck in my head :nilly:
  5. I'm good when it comes to cleaning my tank etc but I am pretty lazy when it comes to cleaning the aquaone filter, its such a pain in the A$$ to get the top off - Next time I buy a new filter I'm going to add "ease of maintenance" to the list of things to check. I'm glad I spent the money to get an Eheim 2280 for my new big tank, ticks all the boxes I'll check the seal tommorow
  6. I bought an AquaOne 2400 earlier this year and Am now just recently having issues with air getting trapped inside it, Just by coincidence I was in the room when the motor started making a weird dud dud dud dud dud sound, checked it out and the water was no longer passing through it - Too much air had collected inside. So i re primed it and away it went, later that day i came back to it and rocked it back and fourth to check for more air and sure enough a bit came out (and dirty water). Anything I should be checking? If it was the seal surely there would be a visible water leak?? I cleaned it about 2 months ago so there shouldn't be anything blocking it up.
  7. I got cover for my tank when it broke, glass went everywhere aswell, I had carpet on concrete and then another bit of carpet overlapping onto the first piece - glass made it all the way to the concrete
  8. I like the look of this substrate to http://www.fnzas.org.nz/?p=1114
  9. Its really easy to reseal the tank just DON'T cut into the silicon thats between glass :sage:
  10. It can't be, they don't run long enough to overheat :slfg:
  11. What substrate do you guys/gals think I should use? I don't really want to use black silica sand with a black silica sand rockface background

    Bloodworms?

I don't think so, maybe but they don't wriggle around like mozzie larvae, I always find them on the bottom moving around like......... worms :sml2:

    Bloodworms?

If you leave a bucket filled with oak leaves etc outside over summer, by the end of summer you get a whole load of bugs etc
  14. Leaves make a natural decoration
  15. Change the radiator? If you have alot of bent/broken fins you won't have much surface area for the air to cool it. Have you also checked the fans blowing enough air onto it?
  16. Update: 2 more coats of resin and 2 coats of Black silica sand, Even with 3 coats plus the sand its still a little fin along the edges due to the resin not being thick enough, seems to slide off the finer edges and only leaves a fin layer behind. One last coat tommorow and it should be ready to melt the poly  P.s I plan to make another wall along one side of the tank, thats why on the left side of the background theres a flat section.

    silica sand

Black silica is shiny, if you can try find something that is matte - looks better imo
