  1. Sad news, I really enjoyed the place the couple of times I visited
  2. Ohhhh I really wanna play Dead Island. I play Xbox 360 sometimes, have to wait til I housesit usually cos I don't want to play violent games in front of the flatmates' toddler. I prefer single player campaigns with interesting storylines over online stuff though. I also like casual online flash type games, like on Kongregate.
  3. When you can buy special limited edition RWC Treasures nappies, I don't think it's even about a sport anymore. It's about marketing and getting people spending lots of money. Can't wait til it's over
  4. I played 1, 3 & Medieval but I find they get boring quickly, never play more than 1 family group on them. I prob liked medieval the best since the Sims had less 'needs' and the story lines were amusing.
  5. Just wondering, how long will it take to make & send cards for people during the year? (after receiving capitations of course). Just so I can tell new members when to expect it. I already have at least 1 coming up!
  6. But adding a lot of cold in one go will bring down the temp of the water still in the tank more than adding smaller amounts of cold, so Henward's plan would still work. (ie 1 50% water change a week vs 5 X 10% changes)
  7. Have updated venue due to host pulling out - going to a restaurant instead, yay no cleanup! Please RSVP by next Wed so we can book a table.
  8. Date: Sat, 13 August Time: 6pm Location: Food Sing Chinese Restaurant Church Corner, Riccarton Rd New members and guests welcome. Facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=198514273537011
  9. All the things that are put on Twitter are automatically posted to the Facebook too, so anyone following the facebook page doesn't need to follow the Twitter. (or vice versa)
  10. Haven't had that much flak for owning fish... At least the aesthetics of a tank/fish appeals to most people. But if you don't like being judged for your hobby/pets, definitely don't go for rats(/mice/ferrets?)! I get soooooo sick of ignorant people making comments about them. get things like this: ie from the rat thread from every other moron you come across  Fishkeepers have it light in comparison
  11. You can easily litter train rats, so easy to empty that and keep it clean. If you're worried about smell, get girls or neutered boys (speying and neutering will reduce tumours too!) Never get a single rat, they need company. I love rats, they're my fave pet ever. Kind of have the personality of a dog, they love you!
  12. Read full article. http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/christchurch-earthquake-2011/5294672/Fish-survive-swimmingly
  13. My fave study method is to practise with old exams (although this works best for university as lecturers tend to repeat similar questions year after year) and I'm not sure if you can get old NCEA ones? Then you get an idea of the type of questions that will be asked and if you can't do something, look it up in your school books and teach yourself.
  14. To any guests who think they might attend, please pm me by tonight for the address as I won't be able to reply tomorrow. Any last minuters, please pm Jennifer instead.
  15. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=230225967007954 You can also RSVP (or stalk who's gonna be there) here
  16. Where: Jennifer's house Halswell (please pm/email me/her for exact address) When: Sat 16th July 5pm onwards We will reattempt the guest speaker we were meant to have in March! "This month we are lucky to have Rupert Collins as a speaker. Rupert is a fish biologist and writer at Practical Fishkeeping magazine: http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=3079 At the meeting he will talk about his research, biosecurity and some other interesting fishy topics. " As usual, please bring a plate (or bag or packet) of food to share. We'll aim for an early-ish tea and hope to have Rupert talk at about 6pm. New members, guests and visitors from other clubs are welcome.
  17. Ratamon, Gwen (RIP :tears: ) & Sylvie. Mr Piddles! He's so cool.
  18. What was the show exactly? Did it have a storyline/narration or was it dinosaurs walking around to music and you interpreted it yourselves?
  19. Photos please?? (Ans yes, the curtain idea is awesome, I used to have a piece of black material stapled around an old desk on my previous tank.)
  20. That won't stop them, they can crawl over damp grass etc. They can get to landlocked ponds and back.
  21. Have you tried looking at the other furniture sections? I've seen nice desks or TV stands used for tank stands. Mine is a $30 wooden desk I sanded & repainted, I'd never trust a pet store stand now, they look too cheap & flimsy. My main thought when looking at a stand now is "will it topple in an earthquake?" haha.
  22. :smot: My thunder comes before the lightning; My lightning comes before the clouds; My rain dries all the land it touches. What am I?
  23. That's a siamese fighter aka betta. I had one with a big rip heal fine. Like Adrienne said, look out for rot. Don't ask me how to treat it though! Maybe he'd be better off in a tank alone cos the guppies etc may attack his tail. I used to sometimes keep mine in a plastic colander so he'd be safe from the other fish. Or cut a coke bottle in half, make holes all through it and hang that in the tank?
