the pic of the checker barb was taken mid day yesterday and this is her today...
Sorry about the terrible photo but her tail is skeletal and near it is very skinny? does this help anyone? I will visit the LFS tomorrow and try to find something to save the remaining few. I haven't had much luck at all with this tank despite doing everything I could.....
Ive been using farm water but conditioning and there hasn't been a problem up till now?
That website seems great but where do you get the treatments? I'm a struggling student so taking a fish to the vet is going to have to be the last resort?
That is a checker barb, very cute, one of my fav!
If all of those in the tank die barring one or two and I strip the tank and recycle it will the one or two such as my bristlenoses reinfect the tank?
As most of you will know i have been having issues with the tank and alot of fish dying. We noticed that some of them have clear stringy poo (as shown below) and they seem to have lost some of their appetite and are very lethargic.
Any help VERY appreciated as losing the fish is starting to get expensive :'(
Hey just a quick question, After treating the tank with tonic, white spot cure etc I know you are suppose to do a water change but how much? Some people say 10% some people say 25% some say 50%? What do you guys think?
We brought a 160l tank in November and was very impressed by the range of tanks he had avaliable to view and buy. He is an honest guy and tells it like it is. The cabniets are cheap and he will tell you that. They are strong enough for the tanks but not awesome quality. The tank is quiet and the filtration is good, and it looks good on top!
IMO there is nothing wrong with the tanks and they are very good value.
Ive only had one more loss after treating with formilan and two substantial water changes. Everyone looks good now and they seem to be much happier with more airation. Still stumped as to what happed but assuming it was water quality but what happend I dont know? Im usually pretty careful?
This might be a silly question my small angel has a small white, circular ..... something coming from him or her? Just looking for ideas??? It seems fine in all other respects...? :-?
Yea hopefully that is all it is. Yes I have cleaned the filter but I used established water from the tank. I have purchased an air pump and created a bubble wall to aid in airation. Can there been too much airation?
I rang Brian at goldfish bowl in hamilton and he suggested that it is bacteria and I should treat the tank with Formalin? Wat is the best way to airate a tank this size?
The platty seems skinny and she has a small spot on her that is white ( not white spot) More like a discolouration? Could it be an internal parasite?
Ive just done a 50% water change with not real change for the ill fish. The rest seem perky but they always do after the disturbance of a water change.
No they dont seem to be hanging out at the surface, about mid to high tank. I have another high fin platty who has her fins clamped. The others seem fine, nothing has changed. I just found a female guppy dead also and she looking to have something wrong with her abdomen, It was darker in colour than usual and looked to be discharging something brown? The rest of the tank is behaving normally.
Ahhhh I woke up this morning to a dead angel (not particularly surprising but hard none the less) and a dead platty. The platty looked swollen in her abdomen (could have been fry) and a small white thing coming from her?
HELP PLEASE??? I relly dont want to loose any more!!!
Nope I have a quiet tank Sword tails (only one shy male n a few females) One silver shark, 2 small angels, 2 rams, 2 guppies, a few mollies, n a few platties. They all seem very happy and peaceful? I'm stumped!
Nothing has changed in the tank, I brought a pair of Rams and 2 angels who were intorduced to the tank. They brought white spot (I know I shoul,d have quarintined them) Which was treated and has gone now. After treatment I placed carbon in the filter and did a 15% water change?
Did I do something wrong?
The water smells a little but no different than ever and yea it smells like dirt. And no left over food. I watch to make sure nothing makes it to the substrate.
Yea have done a 25% water change and will repeat again. I have a 160L sunsun tank with standard filtration. The amonia prob was over new years. The water parameters are all really good ie nil??? I'm so lost!!!!!
Update: Angel really not looking well... Maybe nicer to put him down?
Now my mollies and platties are looking a little sad. They are visually normal also but have clamped fins and are dwelling at the surface?
Nope, No wounds, no discolouration, and no bulges.
Sorry camera is playing up so cant get a photo up!
He looks completely normal???
Maybe an inernal prob?
He isn't lookin well tho...
I woke up this morning to find my angel very unwell. He seemed to be fine last night My tank parameters are good and havent changed. Ive had a problem with amonia but have that sorted now. Could he still be unwell becasue of this? He is now in a hospital tank and it losing the ability to swim. He seems to be disorientated?
Please help?????
I got mine from Goldfish bowl in Hamilton. I was very impressed with his stock compared to others locally!
They are still doing really well and seem to love my tank full of hiding spots and plants.
