Thanks heaps guys! Ive just started to plant out my tank, have started with 2 good sized fibre optic hair grass and am tracking down some java moss and indian fern. Will they be ok over a long weekend in this tank?

I went away friday and came home tuesday morning. Why are the bristlenoses affected and nothing else?

I Went away for the long weekend with the light on a timer and dropped two weekenders tabs into my 160l tank having been ensured they would all be fine. I came home to 2 dead Bristlenose's Everyone else is fine? Anyone know what it could be? The red spot and older bristlenose seem fine? HELP?

My "breeding tank" is a 5l tank with plastic plants in it as the traps weren't working? Maybe I need more plants?

Hey, I just cant seem to get my swordtails, platties and mollys to produce fry. They get extremely round and then moved to a small breeding tank about a week before they are due and just wont drop their fry? This is disappointing and would like to know if anyone can offer some advice? Thanks in advance!

I will look into coming again and see if I can move the budget around hehe (fish get first priority again hehe) Will let you know as to the outcome! I will only want a couple but I think the trip will be so much fun!

hey hey guys! I've been reading bout this hunt and I would really love to go! But we are poor students and as all spare money is spent on the tanks we cant afford the trip ! The fish sound amazing and would like to have a couple? Is there anyone from hamilton or surrounding areas that would be willing to bring some back for me? (Am happy to pay for them?) Thanks a lot guys I hope you enjoy it!

Phew, That was pretty in depth. And yes the worst of the heat wave seems to be over and the tank has dropped from 30 to 27ish so I am much happier (not to mention the fish!) Next summer I will look at setting up a fan (have to buy on first hehe) but if a hot day is coming will just stick with ice in a bottle for the last of this summer! Thanks heaps! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Ok so it might seem like a really silly question, but are there male swordtails that dont have swords? Here is one of my fish that I'm not sure of? Male? With no sword? :-?

Yea we not too worried about hiding it just now, it works so if it aint broke dont fix it i reckon. Cheers for advice though

thanks. Rock at the back is just some normal slate from a garden store. would love to move the heater but unfortuanately that is all the power cord will give us!

Thanks heaps for all your help. I have a fully inclosed tank so the fan idea isn't too practical but sounds good anyway. (I have jumpers so can't have an open top tank) Will go with the coke bottle idea for this summer and maybe try somthing else for next summer!

I live in a small house and the its always very warm in here but with the recent hot weather I cant seem to keep the tamp of my tank down. Its 160l and seems set at around 30! Ive tried floating icecubes to drop the temp and even tried a water change but cant seem to get results that last? Does anyone else have this problem?

Hey everybody, Just got back from our holiday and our poor little neon appears to have lost most of his fins. Not just his tail so assumed wasnt some other fish having a snack. Is there anything that can be done or is it safer just to get rid of him? (not sure if other fish will get it)
