  1. Yea it does? If there are live blood worms and water boat men will there be daphnia in the trough as well?
  2. This will probably sound silly to most here but would anyone just happen to know what the proper name is for these little bugs (normally found in troughs etc.) is, they are about 5-6mm long and have legs (that look like lil oars) that they propel themselves with. Any help apreciated as we have found some and want to know if they are edible for our fish!

    Agro Ram

Hey guys, Sadly I lost my female Ram and all was well, the male remained calm and happy, but I introduced a pair of kribs into the tanks and he has gone mental. He wont leave the male alone and harasses the female too. Do I have to find him a new home or would a female help to settle him down again?
  4. Yea i just let it siphon from the tank and when it is full flick it on. Somedays it will start straight away and other times it will take upto 30 mins to start. I don't think it has any provisions for priming on it?
  5. wow, thats an awesome idea and so simple! I was trying to come up with a way to set something up like that but that looks like the easiest way! Could someone please have a quick read over the bbs link i posted above and see if that is the usual way to do it?
  6. Thanks heaps guys, finally got it going, I'm a bit of a newbie on external filters!
  7. ok thanks heaps guys, that site is great! Ill give it a few more weeks to make sure that I am sure that I can feed the fry and make sure they have the best shot possible. I'm trying to come up with a way to accommodate the males should they need to be separated? Maybe a little DIY is in order...
  8. Hehe nope def a leopard fish! Phalloceros caudomaculatus!
  9. Thanks a lot, I have heard that if male fighters are raised together that they can remain in the same tank? Is this a myth? At what age will the males and females need to be separated? (I can't get into that link? weird?) Is this a good site? is this the easiest way to do it? http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/fishfoo ... tchery.php
  10. Hey there, Just thought I'd share a few pics with you guys, Enjoy
  11. Wow if this is what I think it is... he doesn't muck around! And she is looking rather plump? I hadn't really planned on breeding but they seem very keen? could someone please post a basic list of what I would need to successfully breed these two?
  12. Hey there, I have a fluval 303 external filter and whenever i stop it to clean the internals i always have a big battle to get it going again. Can anyone please impart some very useful knowledge on this subject? would be much appreciated!
  13. Thanks. He came fro Reptilez in Te Awamutu.. Awesome place to visit
  14. Here is the new addition... :bounce:
  15. Yea I have him on hold and will be picking him up tonight. I will get a pic up as soon as I can! I don't have a white female and since they are so rare would be happy to lend him out for breeding purposes to boost the numbers? Yay! I'm so excited!
  16. on 2nd inspection noticed he has a very tiny black fleck on his side so not pure white but extremely close. Location: most likely my tank
  17. Hey guys I saw one today, pure white and very striking are they very common?
  18. They are great!I have 3 small BN in my tank and they are a must. They are 'fairly' gentle on plants (compared to a common pleco) and don't make too much of a mess while they are small. Mine are always out and are always in view. They will hide when first put into the tank but they will come out as they grow in confidence. Very cute little catfish! They love veges and algae tabs and def need wood. Good luck! Lana
  19. Hey there, this may not be technically correct and people, please feel free to correct me but I have a bubble wall in my tank so only need one inlet from my air pump. It was very noisy for some time, I tried putting tape over the other inlet which works temporarily but works lose with time. Now I just have a piece of air hose (about 40cm) hanging towards the floor outside the tank from the spare inlet, it is much quieter! Lana Good luck with the tank!

    Dying Kribs

That sounds exactly like all of my problems! FInally touch wood I seem to have combated it with not deaths in some time. I'm sorry I cant tell you what it is but in the end I stripped my tank, boiled everything and started with filter wool from an established tank. Who knows what it was but that sounds just like what my tank did? Good luck sorting it and if you find out what it is let me know!!! Lana
  21. Awesome thanks! Will have to look into them when I am not a student!
  22. hey all, Just curious, these guys look great and I'm wondering how common they are in NZ and how much they cost. Has anyone here been able to breed them? Common names : Butterfly Pleco, Flounder Pleco, Pretty Peckoltia Thanks in advance Lana

ooops! Camera has been told sternly about photo size! Yea he is great and a very placid fish. He is about 10cm nose to tail so still little for a red spot. Still playing with camera but am very pleased with the cheap sony's photo quality.
