  1. currently the FNZAS is looking to the future as far as development of the website and fishroom goes. I am looking to compile a data base of fishkeepers who use this forum, who have skills in any of the following areas, and would not mind being asked for advice - Website Design, Website Development and IT. I would also like to know if there are any Lawyers out there. Please can you pm me if you might be able to assist or know of another fishkeeper who can. Thanks
  2. Try and keep the water cold for them Sam, as coming from outside they wont handle the heat inside a house as well. Perhaps freeze some water in snap lock bags and chuck one in each morning and evening for the first week so they have time to adjust.
  3. If your request, the advice you received, your final order and the cost is in writing you have everything on your side. If there is nothing in writing you may have issues. This thread has a common vein running through it to others I have seen. If you are using a reputable tank maker or one of the ones listed on this site, their good reputation will be worth heaps to them. If you are using someone who can do it on the cheap then they are unlikely to care if they have cash in hand. But once again, you will need written documentation as proof of what you requested compared to what you received.
  4. Forgot to add, if you want to call in and have a look and bring your mother feel free to do so. I have the australis, lake kutubu, red, parkinsons and boesmani for her to look at. They are all showing colours.
  5. 11cm or thereabouts for the boesmani. If blue is what is wanted I suggest you go for the Lake Kutubu rainbows. I have a pair in my tanks, still smallish but the male is absolutely stunning as far as colour goes. They do get to about 12.5cm in length at maturity.

    ID please

Its a very difficult thing to do to even get that done Fishguy. You need to provide proof, as in documentation, to show that the fish has been allowed in the country before and has in fact been here.
  7. I wouldn't go blaming a woman for a mans inability to concentrate on the job in hand!
  8. Nice! TBH I reckon your tank could more than hold its own in this
  9. Happy Birthday Caryl I hope you have a great day.
  10. It looks good however, in the absence of any real knowledge about the strength of stands, seeing as you are in ChCh I am wondering if there should be a little more bracing to stop any side to side sway ie angled bracing on the longer sides. Yes, I would be interested in how you do your lighting
  11. I use a standard glass diffuser with about a 3cm wide base to it and the bubbles run straight into a power head which spits them out at a great rate
  12. I am putting CO2 in at 1.2bps and have a tank absolutely chocker of minute bubles from the Pressurised CO2 system. Not brave enough to go more as yet.
  13. You will probably get heaps of responses but one thing to bear in mind with the price is that while one brand in a 500ml bottle may treat say 5000 litres another brand in a 500ml bottle might treat 9000 litres so it might, in the long run, be more economical to pay a higher amount for a bottle that will go further.
  14. this is why you should not swim http://goafrica.about.com/od/healthands ... harzia.htm having been injected for pretty much everything else we were not keen to come down with anything like this. Despite all our precautions I did catch a bug, was pretty unwell for 2 weeks and it took another 7 for me to recover completely. Note the recommended treatment Likoma I will send the pics through to you tonight, would you please pm me your email address as my photo size is very dense.
  15. Both furan 2 and erythromycin will kill cyano. Working at a shop with tanks I would have expected both to be in the fish first aid kit?
  16. After the February 2011 Christchurch Earthquake the FNZAS Executive set up a fund for donations from club’s and individuals. "‘The purpose of this fund is to give cash to help our members, some of whom have lost not only fish and associated equipment, but also homes and possibly livelihoods’. Whilst this cash is primarily aimed at assisting them to return to the hobby, it may be used for any purpose as needs require at this tragic time". If you were an Affliliate or Associate member at the time of the earthquake - and are still one - and would like to make an application for some assistance please complete the application form below and return to Adrienne Dodge, 26 Mt St John Ave, Epsom, Auckland 1051, or email; [email protected]. Applications close on 28 February 2013.
  17. I dont have underwater ones, you need to be either mad or an idiot to go in the water in Africa these days. I do have shots taken on and of the lakes with surrounding vegetations and stuff.
