  1. Does anyone happen to have any of these? They haven't come in for years that I am aware of and I would like to add to the 3 I have in the hope they may breed. If you even have only one or know someone who does you could help them remain in the country. If you have had them in the past, any tips for their care?
  2. There is in our house. 'Up until the middle of this year safety certificates were purchased by electricians by the book. If the electrician is still using up the supply of certificates you are likely to be charged. When the new rules came in the format of the forms was changed and they became available free of charge to the electrician. In theory you ought not be charged for the actual form but it is a bit of a grey area as you could be charged for the time the electrician spent completing the certificate'.
  3. external parasites? clamping the top fin at all?
  4. Congratulations - we also had three of these, can be hard work and still have two at home, 20 & 22, but absolutely worth it.
  5. I think Hovmoller had these, might be worth sending him a pm and seeing if he had any issues.
  6. Nice! They are a really nice looking tank and the filtration in the back is great. Will be watching this thread with interest
  7. Yes they will and breed together too if there is a mix of males and females.
  8. Try googling 'endemic starfish nz' this is one of the listing that come up under that - http://wik.me/1ioz_9bc Then try googling the name of the starfish, both latin and english under images. If that doesn't work, have a search on flickr - remember though that these images are copyright so for viewing only not downloading. In the waters around NZ you will find a lot of non endemic local marines which you might want to search for as well. There is a section on the new website on endemic and non endemic local marines which will eventually include starfish.
  9. You can email pics to me to post on your behalf if you want [email protected] - I use photobucket, its not hard to use except for the fact they keep changing things around
  10. I am just venturing in to the salt side of things but my understanding is that if there is no excess protein then you will get nothing. I would expect that if your tank is still fairly new then this would be the case. (Waiting for someone more experienced to come along and say yay or nay)

    Ira's tank

Very nice indeed What type is your new camera?
  12. Have a read through these posts which are under the livebearers section - you should get an idea from here who does and doesn't know what they are up to. viewforum.php?f=12
  13. that looks exactly like the sump I used to have
  14. If you have not already gotten rid of the sump and purchased the canisters why not post on here the design and what went wrong. There are several awesome people on this forum (David R) is one with a lot of experience in sumps. I got rid of my sump a few years ago and regret it still.
  15. My thoughts are that you could but risk floods doing it that way as much as you did without canisters. You would still have to have all precautions in place in case of a power failure and if you have had problems previously I am not sure doing it the first way is going to be any better.
  16. If it looks to be getting better just continue on as you are. You will find once out of the water the fish won't move much.
  17. Most probably would help. You can put it in the water but I find directly on the wound tends to make the cotton wool effect drop off. Do you have any cotton buds?

Would anyone like to go view in my place?
  19. He might not lose the eye - if you can keep the water really clean. The cotton wool fluff that appeared is usually caused by the likes of an infected scratch or cut. That is what is more likely to kill him than anything else. Meth Blue will get rid of it if dosed directly on to the wound but if it gets in the eye itself, then sight will very likely be lost.

If you all remember, not so long ago a seller made a mint selling L270 as Zebra plecs. Possibly the same person needing some more spending?
  21. Okay, I am thinking AR maybe an aqua reef 150 tank. Take a look at this video, is it one of these? - if so its an Aqua One Aqua Grande reef tank. If not, can you post a pic, once you know what brand it actually is, you may locate a manual Looked through another one of your threads and found out you knew the brand was aqua one. Googled it and what do you know http://www.aquaone.co.uk/documents/Aqua ... ew_000.pdf wasn't that hard - took 10 secs max. Hope that helps. The more information you give when posting the more likely you are to get assistance
  22. If the eye has burst and the resulting area has developed a cotton wool growth on it, you could try taking the ram out and dropping a drop of meth blue directly on the cotton wool growth, however only do this if the eye is gone as otherwise the fish will lose its sight due to the meth blue. You will have to keep the water conditions absolutely pristine ie water change totally at least once a day for any chance of recovery, this could take several weeks. What caused the water to deteriorate so much in the first place that it developed or is there bullying going on in the tank?
  23. Partners/Spouses are welcome to come along. Not all discussion is fish
