  1. Heres a few more close up pics taken last night showing some of the plants and of the residents of the tank busily eating their dinner. CO2 will be up and running later today - the cylinder is just being refilled for me. I can't wait! Maybe this will assist in controlling the algae
  2. Just ask him. I'm pretty sure he browses this forum anyway if he has not yet joined
  3. They've been in the country before - about 2-3 years ago I think.
  4. From what I understand discus will choose their own pairings but I may be wrong. If I was you I would feed the best I could to the young discus as there is nothing worse imo than discus that are not round or are stunted with huge eyes.
  5. Hmmm... I think its probably going to work too. I asked a couple of people at the weekend would they join up if they knew about the aquarium world and discounts and they said 'definitely'.

I agree that it looks like a bruise which is probably from another fish. I note that you have only had your tank for a week. How big is it and what sort of filter is on it?
  7. Very nice John - some of those would cross incredibly well with some of my girls who have very very strong colouring.
  8. Same size as my male fighter containers. Its not so much the size if the fish is small enough as knowing how to look after the fish properly in such a small container.
  9. Best value is immediately hatched.
  10. Joe, be patient, your tank will look lovely if you just give it time. I have discovered that when you plant out a tank and it looks great, that you then need to give it time to grow and that trimming and pruning regularly keeps it looking beautiful. My tank looks really good from a distance atm and in photos but when you get close up the java moss is full of disgusting grey bba (the excel is turning it grey) and some hair algae. I remove bits every day but then thats the joys of high lighting.

Welcome, enjoy your time on here.
  12. You would need to read the list of 'ingredients' to make sure there are not too many other additives but if its pure 'spirulina' it should be okay.
  13. I don't know about your style of tank but carbon should be replaced around every 4 or so weeks as once it is full of muck it starts to send it back out into your tank I believe. It may have been a good catcher for any yeast so therefore it might pay to replace it. Its a lot easier to replace than have to clean out your filter sponges properly therefore losing any good bacteria.
  14. We used to down in the SI - the kids call them Suzie and Andrew. When we sat down to eat pork or bacon one of them would say 'Is this Andrew?'. Mind you they called one of their pet lambs 'lamb chops'.

Nice - I like that Unfortunately it won't be coming my way as Organism has said they are too busy at the moment to shop. I was after some of the fighters as well.
  16. Only semi related to this post but clown loaches are better off in a group and from what I have read above you may only have one? As Ryan says keep doing the water changes until the tank clears.
  17. and your mother said ..............
  18. The other thing I would be concerned about is what the mix is going to do to your filter. Have the fish started to come down from the top of the tank since the second water change? How much mix do you think may have emptied in to the tank?
  19. you might be on a win today Caryl
  20. Have you got an airline running because if not I recommend you put one in to add oxygen to the water. Have you got a spare tank?
  21. Male guppies and male fighters are not always the best mix either - the temptation on both sides to nibble at the beautiful long tails is sometimes too great. If the tank is well planted out you might get away with it.
  22. Hi Joes, nothing is wrong with it. I found this on http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/p/Limno ... iflora.php 'Limnophila sessiliflora is a very easy to care for stem plant. In high light Limnophila sessiliflora will get long internodes regardless of nutrient levels. Lower light will make the plant stay bushy. Tips of plant can turn red, if close to light source. Multiply by cuttings/lateral shoots.' This plant is more commonly known as Ambulia.
