  1. Yesterday we got lots of insects for the fish. mainly ephemoptera and water boatmen. It was really cool to watch, I had a nice photo lined up, with the fish looking at a water boatman, but I pressed the shutter a second too late: There are lots of water boatmen left over, and they are really interesting to watch too.
  2. No, its the same as the one in the 2 pics from the first page.
  3. I don't think this pic will help, but its all I've got
  4. Rocco has chosen the bone as his home
  5. Then we found a rather large bully - we're thinking its a common bully? Annoying cellotape got in the way And then caught exactly what I wanted :happy1: 2 redfin bullies: Now my tank has 2 redfin bullies and 1 koura
  6. Got back from the fish hunt. Very happy :happy2: We first went to the place where we got Rocco this afternoon. Found another Koura (just to look at) Found no fish there It might have been too early. Then we went to another river. And found a bully hot spot. There were heaps of them! First one we caught was kinda yellow, got some bad pics:
  7. Went on a koura hunt today. (Will do bully hunt tonight) Found 1 adult, 2 juveniles and 1 really little one. Got one of the juveniles & called it Rocco: Rocco exploring the tank: The tank, with added ferns and more rocks, and a bone (probably leg bone). It has a really nice tunnel :
  8. The cave was my favourite find. If I put stones down the middle, to make 2 caves, would that be better in the hopes that a bully could have one side and the koura have the other side? Or maybe I'll do another cave on the right hand side
  9. The tank looks much better in real life: I tried wood in there but it didn't look right. & will get some fern leaves tomorrow.
  10. The smallest ones were about 2.5cm, up to fully grown. I want a juvenile, but one thats big enough to feed easily.
  11. I've been keeping tropicals for 7 years now and have been getting very frustrated with planting it wright - so much that I've considered giving up fish. My solution is to turn a tank into a natvie tank as my room doesn't get above 20C (even in summer) so keeping it cool will be straight forward. The tank is 60x40x40cm. We're going on a fish hunt tomorrow. Hoping to get a koura and 2 bullies. (I am aware that in the other thread I was told to get either or, but i'd like to try it beacuse i might get a nice koura). We went looking yesterday and found 8 koura! They were a range of sizes. What size is best to get? Later tonight (hopefully) i'll post a pic of the tank.
  12. I've been doing air temp tests on my room (as the tank is tropical atm). Haven't done one at the hottest part of the day, but its not very warm in my room... Which is very useful for a FW native set up
  13. Thats a pity. I really like both koura and bullies. could I put fresh water shrimp with the bullies? How many bullies would be appropriate?
  14. I'm considering using my 60x40x40cm tank for natives (bullies and koura at the least). But is the tank too small for them?
  15. it was last february that they bred. I usually have my tanks at 25/26 (or atleast thats what I set the heater to)
  16. Its awesome to see that they've bred for you already! They are good parents, they managed to raise their first lot in secret.
  17. She chose to eat a buttercup (it was amusing watching her putt it off the stem). But my mum thinks they're posionous.
  18. Finally had good enough weather to take Sky outside (and had help avaliable just incase a cat turned up) The box has a mesh lid for when there are cats around that should still let in uv. For future visits outside, are buttercup flowers or daisys bad for Sky to eat?
  19. I've got a range of sinking foods and pellets that sink (like NLS, wafers etc). All packet stuff, no frozen or live food. Might give them ago.
  20. For the last few months I've been doing cold water changes to get my cories to spawn with no luck. I've decided to move them into my other tank and in the process try and see if I actually have a mix of males and females... I think that females are broader from above, but are any of these broad enough?
  21. Zoo pics Sean, Sun bear: Leopard Tortoise: Samantha and Baby: Lanky, Pelican:
  22. Not sure. My sister claims she looks greener every time she sees her. Jade certainly changesd to a brighter green, so on her first moult she might change.
  23. Couple of new pics. This one is my cats brother, Dragonfly. I took it from about 5 meters away. I really like the fact that I can get an up close pic without being right in their face  And Jade and Lily snuggling:
  24. I remember fuzz nut She's away for a couple of days & has an account on here now (kartoshka)
