The question is what is causing the cloudyness. Suspended particles such as dust etc from gravel Green water(algae) Bacterial bloom, possible caused by overfeeding You must diagnose the problem before you can fix it. Also only push the submit button once!

I know how you feel Cheesejawa. I just got back from a four day holiday in Auckland, with a new tank for my Geo's. Unfortunately the heater came unplugged(im blaming the cat and cheap multibox from red shed). :evil: :evil: Lost two Large Geos and one huge otto. Im not a happy chappy at the moment. Also for future reference, be very careful adding warm water to cold as the sudden change in temp can kill the already stressed fish. Better to do as mentioned above in previous post and wam gradually. Sorry for your loss

I know its not Rarotonga, but when i was in fiji i spent hours and hours snorkling. The only downside was these horrible biting things in the water. I never saw them but i sure felt them. Kinda feels like tiny pin pricks. Warning, these may not seem to bad at the time, but if you react to sandfly and mossie bites then when you wake up the next day you will be covered in red itchy dots. They were everywhere, yup even there Did i mention they get real itchy. led to a very uncomfortable flight back home. But it was worth it. would happily do it again, but this time ill take some antihistamines.

Can anyone suggest what LFS in Aucks are worth a visit at the moment. Im big on South American Fish and general Aquatic plants and the likes. Last time i was up i visited Pupuke And Hollywoods. Can anyone suggest any particular store that you think will be worth while stopping at, I wont have enough time for them all so wanting to know what is worth driving to. Any comments would be great Cheers

Also as a after thought. Many plants, especially swords and crypts dont like their roots disturbed and will most likely begin to melt when you move them again. With Crypts you can sometimes plant them and the appear to rot away totally with ony the rizome (sp?) remaining, give it time and the correct conditions and it will grow back.usually bigger and stronger than before

Without heating at this time of year, may kill plants such as combomba, as they dont like the cold, others that do tollerate cooler temps will grow much slower. What sort of lighting are you planning? I would think that general ferts will cause mass algae blooms as the are high in phosphates which the algae loves. Just my opinion

I successfully use DIY CO2 on two of my planted tanks, and i have done for over a year now. Its cheap, simple and give great results. The key to success if as stated in previous posts, is to get as much of the co2 disolved into the water and not bubbled to the surface. I use ceramic type difusers and a small powerfilter. I allow the ceramic difuser to create minute bubble that bubble up into the powerfilter.The impellor of the filter smashes these bubbles into almost nothing. HTH

Being a manager of a retail store myself i fully agree with the above statement. My suggestion is to ring them advising that if they are unable supply today, that you will take your business elsewhere. Let them know why and hopefully they may learn.(i know its not the publics job to teach retailers, but some will just go on not even realising where they went wrong)

Just after some opinions or experiances. Next week i am off to auckland and will be picking up my new tank for my geos. Has anyone had any experiance with keeping Surinimensis with Severums? The tank will be a four footer with a few hardy plants(mainly xmas moss and amazon swords). Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Mine always spawned(although all eggs got eaten) in my Discus planted setup, with large water changes and plenty of mozzie larvae and daphniA(live). It was fun to watch. :oops: Oh and they like privacy. Avoid bright light if possible.
