Sweet. A red whiptail. The sell at Animates for about $30-$40. Did it look like this? Where did you get the plants from?

Sorry cant help with the tablets as I have never seen them before. Lights dont really matter to the fish unless you have shy fish like discus or catfish that stay hidden in bright light. I would cut the lighting back to ten hours until the plants become established. Excel is the one that is "liquid co2 for plants" if you want to call it that.
  3. I have 3 or 4 of them that size with no bracing. I have open topped planted tanks with hanging fluoros. They are fine at that height. Tanks any longer would need bracing in my opinion
  4. Which one A-Town? There are several. Gemz, have a read of this http://www.wvu.edu/~agexten/aquaculture/pondscum.htm http://www.blanketweed.info/
  5. What about "the final countdown" Or G'n'Rs "I used to love her, but I had to kill her" The Macarena! Sorry, but it would be funny. Try googling wedding songs. There is heaps of lists of suitable songs
  6. Cant comment on that P44, I never had success with them. Here is a handy article http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Plant,%20Banana.htm
  7. Ive kept it before. Similar conditions to Lotus is required. If it does not have Banana shaped tubers when you buy it, it will need to be planted and not disturbed for a long time for them to grow. It is a finiky plant. Some people have no issues with growing, others like me cant get it to grow very well. It appears on Trade me occasionally. Best bet is ask a shop to order you some. HTH
  8. Thank you for that lesson in retail Smidey. I need to be told how to do my job :-? You must remember though. Alot of people only hear what they want to hear. Most of them ask you the same question you already answered only minutes ago. Now, I no longer wish to discuss the pros and cons of retail proceedures. Its detracting from original post.( im self moderating) Signing off 8)
  9. This will still not make a difference. If a camera has low resolution for stills, it will be worse for video.Unless of course your camera is HD Smidey, I do agree with your comment, but most people just look at you when you tell them that, and think you are trying to sell them more than they need. Its not easy being a salesperson. Everyone assumes you are trying to rip them off.
  10. Go a nissan Pulsar Hatch. Even better Stella. Get a wagon. I own a wagon, and would never go back to a sedan or hatch. Its so handy to chuck everything in the back and still have room for passengers. Also handy for shifting large tanks.
  11. This will not change the fact that the resolution and light sensitivity is less than most cellphone cameras now.Moving a tank is not a practical way to photograph it! Im sure there are other fish keepers in Whangarei that would take some pics for you and upload them on your PC. If you were closer I would offer.
  12. I agree with Ira. That camera is a DVD handycam and the resolution is .8 megapixels by memory. ( i sell cameras at work) Video cameras are designed for that, Video You can pick up basic point and shoot digital cameras that will be 10 times better than that for photos for around $150- $200.
  13. Type one is Insulin Dependant. Meaning, you must inject insulin on a daily basis. For me its 4 times a day , more if required. Type two is usually controlled by diet, pills and sometime insulin injections.( this is the one you hear all the health programmes on TV going on about as it is usually caused by lifestyle) I am type one( Less than 10% of diabetics are type one) Used to be know as adolescent diabetes as it usually occurs in younger people and does not have a known cause.Possibly genetic! I just wanted to know who else was type one like me?
  14. How many other type one diabetics are there in the fishkeeping world?
  15. Is anyone else watching this? Lots of fish By any chance is anyone recording it. I would love a copy to watch again later.
  16. Yeah, saw that thanks Zev, But no it does not mention sizes
  17. Does anyone know what size these become sexually mature? I have three of them and one has a huge fat belly. I hope its a ripe female :bounce: :bounce:
  18. Hi Dazza Hope you enjoy your time here in NZ. Its a beautiful country. Fnzas is a great site with lots of info about some places to visit here in NZ. If you are looking for shops to visit then check out the other NZ forum, where there is a Fish Shop Directory. http://www.fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/vie ... ?f=2&t=783 Its not complete and is being added to all the time. In Auckland, I do recommend visiting Hollywood Fish Farm.(two stores) Also Pupuke Aquarium on the North Shore. Rotorua has a awesome shop called Wonderworld Palmerston Norths WetPets is worth a visit too. If you ever passing through Wanganui(without the H) feel free to message me and I can show you some bits and peices. Cheers Simon
  19. Firstly, the names of your fish Suck!  literally Yes this is typical spawning behaviour. Check the females anal fins to see if she is clutching any eggs there. They carry the eggs around with their anal fins once they have laid some until they find a suitable place to stick them. They dont lay all their eggs together so you may find them scattered aroundd the tank. HTH
  20. Hi all Does anyone know the type of whiptails that were sold by Bubble and Squeak in CHCH several months ago.? They were offered on this site for something like $5 each or something. I got three but am useless at trying to ID catfish so was wondering if someone in the know could tell me. Thanks
