    I have discovered...

Thats awesome. And why am I not suprised it was Ira to find that I too am curious as to how you came across that Ira?
  2. Are you meaning the stuff right at the bottom or the picture?? If so, thats just plain old grass. I know what every plant is except the two in question
  3. Got hold of another crypt that I never had. Crypt. Affinis. Its actually not hard to find, but I never had it. Has started to grow emersed already. Does anyone have any C.pontederiifolia I can buy? I lost the one Caryl sent me and have not been able to revive it It has a neat flower that I really want to get pics of. Please? Someone must have some.
  4. Look at all the Backswimmers I caught to feed to my breeding Rainbows. They go nuts over them Now do you see why its not Potomogeton? Some shoots, or flowers, Not sure which? Top of leaf on left bottom on right. This is the other plant. Same as the one that looks like Javafern. Looks redder as it was growing near the surface. Bit hard to see , but there are hairs on the stem Ideas people??
  5. Starting to grow more now the weather has warmed up.
  6. I will have some ready for sale shortley. Mine did not die off over winter like Alans. I think it was cos its submerged. It froze over several times this winter too.Continued to grow, but very slowly. Yes Sam. That great ball of fire is great.
  7. I grow it submersed no problems. You cant buy the lighting that I use and it cant be beaten for spectrum or intensity.
  8. No its not. There was no Potomogeton at all in the pond that this was in. Just lots of rushes and the other plant that I cant ID. If you disregard the leaves, the rest of the plant looks identical to a water lilly. I dug one of them up and brought it home so will take some pics of it tonight to show you.
  9. The one you have there P44 is the same as all the ones I have. Nothing special about it. I suggest you go back to the supplier and ask why they sold as tropica! Here is some pics and a link to tropica website product card http://www.tropica.com/productcard_1.asp?id=008E
  10. Someone go put one in a glass of vinegar and see what happens. If it fizzes then they will definately raise the PH. let us know You get what you pay for. These are probably made as cheap alternatives to the good stuff.
  11. Yes Maám Thanks for the kind comments
  12. Congratulations Stella. I have been waiting for this time to come for a few years now. I cant wait to get my copy
  13. Yes Stella , that is the plant in question. Aponogeton distachyus is the plant you are meaning, and no its not that as I know where to find that, in fact I have that growing at home. The stems look more like a Nymphaea. They are thicker and more fleshy. I uprooted one of the plants and there is no bulb/corm which is typical of Aponogetons. You will see pics of A Distachyus here http://supasi.wordpress.com/2009/09/01/destruction/ the first two photos.
  14. Ok, so these ones have me really stumped. I went out exploring ponds in the forest today and I came across these plants that I cant ID. Can anyone help? And before anyone says its a terrestrial plant growing emersed, read the blog and see other pics of it. It had plenty of opportunity to gro emmersed but it did not do so. Also If anyone is interested and wants to read about it and see more pics see HERE
  15. I wonder how many WCMM will be registered on the breeding register this year? Breeding fish is fun. Just wish I bothered to register all the fish I have already bred.
  16. Try changing it to a red coloured light. I doubt you will fall asleep with your own red light special.
  17. Possibly an emersed form of some sort of Sagittaria. (be warned that it may be a banned plant) I have seen a similar looking pond plant for sale at garden centres , I tried to google it and cant find anything.
  18. Have a jungle tank Lots of plants like Indian Fern, Java moss etc. Even better is to give the tank a deliberate case of green water. Fry feed on it ans survival rate is better. As Caryl said, They are not fussy at all. They usually dont eat the fry if kept well fed. But if you have lots of plants it give fry places to hide. HTH
  19. You are better to start off with less and increase as you go. Less chance of algae problems. Dwarf sag can take a while to get growing but once it starts youll be pulling it out every couple of weeks.
  20. Nice Java fern there Romeo. I bet that puts off lots of plantlets.
  21. Are you meaning the Iwagumi Tank? Similar to the pic here from the net The forground plant is usually Glosso or hairgrass in these style tanks. The plants at the back could be anything you like. Possibly Crypt Balansae, Val, Sag etc. Reguires high light to keep growth tight and low like that.

    courier prices

How much water does my tank hold?? You need to be a bit more specific with your questions. We dont know what your trying to ship. Could be a filter of a whole tank. Shipping goes by weight and size as well as distance. The link Livingart gave you should be a starter
  23. Fight for it. As mentioned, swamps and wetlands play a major part in flood protection. Look at New Orleans as an example. They drained and filled the swamps that would have normally soaked up excess floodwaters. What happened? Hundreds lost their homes and livelyhoods.. I know its a huge difference in comparison, but if they did it to every swamp we would be buggered. I will gladly sign a petition for you, (im coming up through Taumaranui in a months time) Rotten swines is all they are.
