Currently breeding, M Australis, M boesmani, Threadfins, P Furcatus, M Praecox, and M lacustris
They are easy to breed, its the geting enough small live foods that most people have an issue with. Especially with Threadfins
Lampreys stop feeding when they move into freshwaters for breeding. They dont feed again until they move back into the salt water.
What color is this lamprey?? They turn a neat blue colour when they go upstream to spawn
Firstly, I recommend a darker bakground. Black or dark blue. It brings out the colour of the fish, and plants. You will be amazed at the difference it makes.
Change substrate to a sand
Fill it with more Furcatus Rainbows. LOL Did you end up getting more when you went to Auckland?? (BTW Hollywoods MT Roskill gave me all their Furcatus that had bent spines. No good for breeding but perfect for display tank)
And that is why you cannot import plants without going through an importer. Hitchikers and the likes that potentially desecrate our beautiful country.
So guy, its easy to talk, whos actually doing anything to try??? Mwah hah ha ha
Let me know when you are successful and Ill travel to shake your hand.
If your tank bursts during the night, you tell the insurance company that you were sleep walking and dreaming of feeding the fish.
Not an act of god. Unless your name is Jesus
Insurance companies dont want to pay out. They will try find a loophole to try get out of it if they can.
Most of the fish you listed there will be fine in acidic water, so I dont think that is the problem.
The Betta was probably doomed from day one as he was probably breed from defective gene pool. Gouramis are known for thier sudden deaths or sickness and the tetras and Harliquins only have a short lifespan.
Of course the move probably played a small part in it but as LA said, for one to die and one to be fine, then I doubt it is the water parameters that have caused it.
Sometimes as with the nature of us human beings, we just go looking for answers that are not there.
HTH
I am a big fan of Lemon Tetras.
They usually look plain and ugly in the shops, but get them in a small school in a well planted tank, then they really colour up with their bright red eyes.
Go lemons
Sam, are you able to lower the lighting closer to the water surface??
The further away the lights are the less penetration of light you will get.
Just a suggestion
They will grow for a few months , then turn brown and rot.
I do know of someone who grows them with their roots in the water.
Get some Echinodorus swords as they will not rot on you and look similar to peace lillies.
Do they still have the lion cub enclosure where you can go in with the cubs??
I remember as a kid (over 20 years ago now) one of the cubs was at the age where they were learning to stalk things and while I was patting one cub, the other pounced on my back from a wooden cable reel knocking me flat into the dirt.
Apparantly the look on my face was priceless, but I didnt find it funny. It scared the bejeebers out of me.
Do not reintroduce them to natural waterways. DISEASES
Are they actually Inanga? or another Galaxiid?
Im sure if you advertised them someone will take them. (for free that is)
Both of the pics come fom Googles Tank. Was just trying to find a pic of a red whiptail, and the monitor on the computer I was using is useless and I couldnt see the patterning on the fish.
Nymox, You lucky bugger I never find cool surprises when I buy anything
