    Suggestions ?

Tankmates for my silver (bala)sharks (need a bit of colour) for my Planted tank.
  4. I also suggested not breeding the convicts (because of their aggressive nature )
  5. Would your mum like an internal filter capable of 50ltrs so as not to blow them out of the water onto the carpet and get trod on? ( wouldn't want a squelchy carpet ) if yes I will send you one if you pm me with an address.
  6. I had a problem with guppies dying 1 every day like clockwork and introduced a uv filter and my problem was resolved I have lost none since and I now have several hundred without any problems whatsoever. ( I know also that there are those who are against uv's )everyone has an opinion.
  7. Cannot speak about the pumps but I do have a pondmaster uv filter and it is very good in my opinion.
  8. My Fluvals sometimes make an unearthly sound which is caused by the impeller being unseated, it is easily replaced by removing the top and checking the clips which keep the impeller in place.
  9. Yes, convicts prefer 7.3ph , 24c and grow to 15cm. Angels prefer 7ph , 26c and grow to 15cm. HOWEVER !! this quote from Andy Cunningham (Age of Aquariums participent), " these fish are the axe wielding, homicidal maniacs of the tropical fish world..... and I love them. If they were dogs you would have to muzzle them and license them as a dangerous breed". In my opinion I think they could be kept together if you did not breed the convicts, they tend to stay low in the tank whereas the angels tend to be middle feeders.
  10. I think you have a water quality problem and suggest regular water changes. 20% weekly at least as your tank is quite small. From what I have read dropsy is very very dificult to cure.
  11. Could it be 'popeye' if so this is associated with poor water conditions.
  12. small amounts regularly is a good thing. You will know if you overfeed cos the food will lie on the bottom of the tank and eventually cloud the water.
  13. My gold nuggets pruned mine almost out of existence  Now they are starting on my vallis and crypts
  14. I have to agree with the hillstream loaches cos you have to literally scrape them off the glass.

    HI ALL:)

Hi Caper, pepper cories are normally hardy fish they like neutral water but are very tolerent, Temp 24c but I have had them with Discus at 28c and coldwater fish at room temp. Maybe you were just unlucky. They are very peaceful and make a great cummunity fish.
  17. Must have been a gay bar they met in.

    Jewel fry

thanks guys did that, do not know how many I got but I think maybe most but not all cos mr and mrs Jewel are still defending their corner and I maybe will not put my hand in the tank for a while.

    Guppies Dying

A lot of people seem to be having problems with guppies of late. Some think it could be caused by too much interbreeding. I had problems losing them also untill I added a uv sterilizer and glad to say problem solved. However there are those who do not like uv's.
