Hi and welcome, which cannister filter costs $1200 ?
  2. I agree with danilada to a point, however I think it would be beneficial to transfer as much of the water as possible so as to reduce stress and possible infection.

    Kribs

Youi cannot go wrong with kribs.
  6. Why don't we have a whip round guys and try to offset the cost of replacement ? I would be willing to donate the first $20. ( I know it does not bring back the dead fish )
  7. What are you wanting to keep at this ph?
  8. Mine also love bloodworm and prawn.
  9. Like Caryl said the stars are fairly meaningless, unfortunately some people treat them as medals and sometimes that gives the wrong impression especially to newbies. However in Caryl's case it is a good representation to her dedication to the hobby and her knowledge.
  10. Convicts have stripes for a reason, they are villanous.Hardy yes, but at the expense of other fish. A lot of people have been experiencing problems with guppies. Angel fish are very hardy and good in community tanks as long as their are no small fish to fit in their mouths. Kribs are very hardy. Corry's are hardy. Tiger barbs are hardy but will nip fins . A good website to visit to gather info would be " Age of Aquariums."
  11. My first choice would be Fluval (204,304,404) because they are reliable, reasonably priced, user friendly and parts are available. 2nd choice Aqua One (Via Aqua) Cheaper than Fluval, reliable and parts available.Downside seems to be that they draw air into the system. I also have Eheims but not impressed, reason being I like pumps with a lot of flow and the price.
  12. What kind of fish are you intending to keep?
  13. I am pretty sure if you ask Caryl she will give you heaps of info and assistance.
  14. You need a bigger tank. ( oh and well done getting a price out of discusguru you did better than me.)
  15. Contempt for all you successful breeders. ( just kidding keep up the good work )
  16. I have been to Paul's house and my hammock was slung over 2 tanks
  17. I think all the people who have encouraged this thread should have their ears boxed.
  18. If you are wanting an arowana this quickly Owen maybe you need a physciatrist or a bang on the head as well as a very big tank. Oh and welcome.
  19. If you do regular water changes it will not appear.

    green water

I have had mega problems with green water in the past, I tried lots of things but the cure for me was a second filter which I removed after the water cleared.
