ive been through 4 jebos, only 1 was any good, went for aqua ones after that & have had to take 3 back, now i have jager & it keeps the temp within .3 of what you set it at.

it seems to me if the set up costs were cheaper they would sell more fish, like cheaper tanks & gear it would encourage more people to get into fish.

the best i have grown was in my daughters tiny guppy tank, about 25L, no lighting & i was trimming it & putting it in my big tank, it had gone nuts.

for what i understand its something to do with the extensions on the fins, males have the better ones, some else may know more.

i changed my gravel to the small smooth stuff after 1 got a funny shaped sharp stone stuck in is mouth & i had to catch it & pull it out

i did their first dose last nite & the water is still nice & clear, a packet of vetcare which is 50mg prazi is $52 or the droncit 50mg was $60, both for 50 tabs, the only difference was brand name.

tank is in a mess at the mo, i pulled out some drift wood that i thought was causing problems & my new bit is still soaking in the bath, should be ready this weekend & then i'll replant. i have 1 blue ram 2 neons ( had 6!) some bn's & a gold spot. mine are quite shy & the ram is the boss in the tank. 2 are only about 5cms & the other is around 10cm, i lost my other big 1 a couple of weeks ago. so far ive found if they are well fed they dont seem to mess the tank up too much. mine get abit stroppy with each other but nothing to bad but i would try & get them all the same size, the slightly smaller one seems to bear the brunt of any rot between them. will take some pic's after the weekend. not sure on size, all the sites ive looked at have different ideas. the ones at wetpets in their display tanks are 15cm plus, worth a look.

i have geo sur's & they are fine with plants, great to watch. they dig some really big holes & then fill them back up & find somewhere else to dig. not sure about that sand, i have really fine smooth gravel.

been into my vet today & they have prazi tabs, 50mg, so from what i have been reading i need to dose 250mg per 100L for 3 days & do this for 3 weeks.

caryl i live in the country so it only goes into the septic tank, as for flushing animals i dont think my cat would fit. but i do see your point. i have found some aviverm, its a bird wormer so i'll have a go with that tonite, thanks to those that have offered help & advice

the 1 i flushed was stuffed, it was laying on its side rolling onto its head & it was clearly the best option for it, the 2nd, if i thought flushing 1 fish could save other fish then yes i would do it, so far ive had no luck getting my hands on any treatment for them & if it came to it & there is nothing else to do then i'll flush away. what f's me off is the fact that the nite before i decide to chuck him in with my other fish that needed the formalin as i thought id do him as well because he came out in white spot too & now ive infected that tank, the only good thats come of doing that is i only spoted the red things in its butt after putting it into the tank with better lighting. im nearly at the point of giving up & selling everything, whats the point of having fish if you cant get your hands on stuff you need for them.

been into the vets & they dont have any & said it comes in a really big amount & they would have to order it, they also wouldn't give it out unless i took the fish in :roll: while i was there i asked about the droncit & adtape, but they didnt know anything about it or the prazi. been into the lsf where i got the oscar from ( i had 2 but flushed the other one yesterday because it had white spot again & hadn't grown since i got it about 3 weeks ago & was looking stuffed, now i know why) & i could see the same red stuff out the bums of the ones they had left. had a chat & another guy is going to call me back hopfully tomorrow. what i want to know is, should i flush this 1 too because i have my royal pleco & hoplo cat in the same tank & i am worried that its going spread to them & do a big gravel vac & cross my fingers?

not sure if its been done but it would be helpful if we had a thread with pictures of plants & what they are called, not all of use are very good at knowing whats what & the lfs aren't always very helpful, you just end up buying what looks nice & have no idea what it is. if anyone has some nice pictures we could start a plant library

this sounds strange, but is it normal for my oscar to have these little red hair like things poking out of its butt? its only a baby, about 3 inches & i just noticed these things going in & out.
