If you have pvc pipe you wouldnt need to use foil would you because white reflexts light... or am I missing something?

No, I mean pvc pipe and elbows, all glued together to make a perfect sized filter inlet and outlet.

Has anyone made diy external filter inlet and outlets, The aquis 2200 inlets etc are alright but I think I could do better with pvc pipe. Any opinions?

I agree pcatfish I think I will put all the sponge in the top basket the ceramic things in the next and the pumice looking stuff in the last basket will buy 1.5 kg of each bio media Also thinking of customising inlet/outlet using hansen fittings, the original ones dont really work that well Ps. where can I get pipe that big from (what comes with it is not long enough) :lol:

Got it yesterday and had a play around, on the box it indicated that the water flows through the bottom first but thats not right. Also can I have the first basket all mechanical and then the second 2 bio. Those ceramic ring things are biological media right?

I usually disagree with genetic engineering and this is no exeption to that rule, but I do believe GE can be of some good. For example, scientist can now look at the Dna of you babies and check that it is "right" if they find that your son/daughter is going to suffer from a life threatining illness that specific gene can me modified to be correct. However in the context of this converstaion I think it is wrong because the GE is purely done to create a fish that looks "better" (Ps. I dont think they look better) A rule which I always abide by is EQUALITY, has humans we are equal to every other living thing in this world and that if we are prepared to do something for anything living we should be prepared to do it to ourselves.
