Not sure but bacteria colonies in the filter will die in about 8 hours I believe :-?

Feather and fur in hornby stock the aqua one canister filters (the only place I have seen where they are actually in stock), they MAY have parts, but then again mabey not. :lol:

Dont get me wrong, I dont know but wouldnt a uv steriliser kill algae spores which create algae on things, so if you ran a uv steriliser from the start it would prevent alge woulnt it?

oh, i thought they might even be the same thing :lol: :lol: The filter I have brought has a surface skimmer attachment or something, should I use it for freshwater tank?

Just a few questions? What is the difference between a surface skimmer and a protein skimmer? What does a surface skimmer do? Could you use a surface skimmer on a freshwater tank? Thanks Guys. :lol:

What do you reakon stock wise? I was thinking a mixture between south-east asian backwater and se a river. Sort of a back water tank stock and mixture of plants. But open to opinions, so waht do you think?

I have a shark 400 and went in to buy the extra filter compartment, I thought it was great to be able to get so much media in. BUT I got it home and found my tank is not high enough for the filter with extra compartment. In mine I use blue sponge on the bottom and white finer sponge on top.

I always thought they were pretty much a reef thing, but why not? Do they do anything for algae on things eg plants? Are pond inline ones alright to use?

Does anyone know where to get INLINE aquarium pumps, the only ones I have ever seen are submersible. Ps. Eheim is to much $$$

To do a water change of 100l could I stick the intake of the canister filter in my aging drum and the out put in the aquarium? And (this is genius (mabey)) then attach gravel vac to intake of canister filter and stick out put out window? Mabey the aging bin has to be same height as tank, but that is just a technicality(sp). Is the new but aged water ok going through filter media? Will this work or will I screw up the canister filter?
