  1. How about getting something like this and getting someone to wire a cord on the end? http://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/lighting_ ... &orderby=1
  2. How have people created diy flourescent lights?
  3. Im almost decided on a 5'x24''x20'' (being 20'' high)
  4. I have an elite heater and its about 2 degrees off... It might be a coinsidence though...
  5. 500 is really as high as you can go with 10mm glass and a saftey factor of 3.8... Isnt it...
  6. Looking at either... (lxwxh) 1600x500x500(400l) or 1800x500x500(450l)
  7. I like the look of them because they are so cheap, so one packs up by another one and it will still cost you less than an eheim or fluval
  8. I have the same problem with ammonia but I have had the tank set up for about a year, but, since I have taken the driftwood out things have improved...
  9. How do you reckon green would look (525nm)... It might look interesting...
  10. oh, so you could make a 1500x1500 box that is 500 high and it would have the same thickness of glass and saftey factor of a tank 1500x600 and 500 high... Right...
  11. So, a tank that is 1500mm long, 500mm high and 500mm wide will have a saftey factor of over 3.8 when made in 10mm glass. Also the spreadsheet calculator doesnt have a width measurement, so couyld you make it however wide you wanted? (eg. 1500mm long, 500mm high and 1000 wide, but still in 10mm glass)
  12. Would a custom wood stand be enough for 3foot tank (500 wide x 600 tall) and will ten ml glass be alright (Think its a saftey factor of about 3.2ish)
  13. Are Jagger heaters made by eheim?
  14. Thabnks Warren, did not know that. So, will the 1200 be too much?
  15. I thought the quick release taps normally had two taps each and not one each???? Thanks quack, out of interest what is the knob behind the taps on the filter and how strong are that taps?
  16. Sharn, that is why I was thinking the 1200, because height of water is quite high Can anyone provide a picture of the taps, spraybar and inlet?
  17. Hmm... Mabey I should just buy a filter... Firstly is the cf1200 to much for a 100l tank? Secondly any comments about the filter would be appreciated
  18. Suely it must be cheaper than a new eheim or fluval?
  19. I was thinking a 300mm round peice of pvc if I make it 300mm high it will yeild a volume of about 21 litres (ish)
  20. The pump should determine the reliability and if you sealed everything really really well...
  21. Hi, has anyone ever seen, heard about, or made a DIY canister filter. Do you think it would be possible,I mean you could use a large peice of pvc wiuth end caps and use an external pump. or You could use4 peices of smaller pipe so the syphoned water went first into the first pipe at the top then into the second then into the third and then into the fourth (these chalmbers would be filled with media) you would then put the 4 pipes in a large pipe which is about 20cm longer than the set of 4 pipes so that there would be a void space at the bottom for a submersible pump which would pump the water back to the tank. Its got to be cheaper than a eheim or fluval canister Plus yuou could add heater if you wanted
  22. Has anyone got a custom tank from critter kingdom on blenhim road Just wondering if the edges of the glass are factory cut or if they are hand cut and perhaps a little rough.
