Has anyone got any adult giraffe afrians? If so can you please post a pic of yours. There isn't much info on the cichlid forum & i want to know what the giraffes that are in NZ look like to confirm they are the same.

looking at the pics above & the pics on the cichlid forum as per link below, i cannot see that the interrurtus in the pic above matches the pics on the cichlid forum, just my opinion.

what about arogonite or crushed marble as a substrate. what fish you keeping in this tank. only thing with this is that raises the ph although mine is around 7.8.
i got my red zebras from eben, he has alot in the online ads section at the mo. i would sell some but not finished stocking levels yet, have been buying a few of each then will keep pairs of each as they get to adult sizes & sell the left overs.
its been a while since i had anything to do with garnet & microns but isnt 80 microns 0.08 of a mm? if so that is very fine & will be washed around at the blink of a fish's eyelid
its very fine, the bags we got were much finer than sand. it was used instead of shot which is very rough to blast paint off & leave a smooth paintable surface on the steel.
i used to do sandblasting which we often used garnet for finer abrasive blasting. be careful it isnt to fine so it doesnt end up being stirred up by the water flow.
hey batman, excellent choice of species. I have fryeri, e yellows, red zebras & cobalt zebras which seem to be a good mix of colour & attitudes. sorry, none for sale though.
hey afrikan, yeah they are cobalt zebras that i have added to fryeri, yellows & red zebras. just out of interest, anyone know why they are refered to as zebras? the cobalts & red zebras do not have any stripes at all where as the fryeri do.
& the most effective way to make em disapear is clown loaches. I had no idea i even had snails until i was cleaning out my canister filter last month. there would have been around 100 adolecent snails in the bottom of the canister. I have never seen snails in this tank & it has been full for a year now. i tipped em into the tank & haven't seen em since they headed for the middle of the tank.
i dont know about anyone else but i certainly notice my heaters are on alot more often.
other than that just building stocks in my african tank, community tank largely untouched for last 6 months except the addition of another swatrz cory.
my clowns were fine to. on the side of excell killing algae, the algae dies really fast so maybe excell works like roundup, its a growth hormone that makes the algae grow so fast that it doesnt have enough nutrients to sustain life.
