go to petplanet.co.nz for aquaone canisters. i have bought two off him now & they are excellent. go for the CF1000 so you can use it for a larger tank when you upgrade.
great choice of fish, africans are great. i have electric yellows, electric blues & red zebras. I also suggest you get a canister filter to run as well as the hood filter, i have done this & it keeps the water crystal clear.
if it was me, i would select the aquaone tank. they are more common IMO & parts may be easier if you need em. at the end of the day a tank just holds water but the other parts like pump etc could fail if not well made or company doesnt have too much experience. i have a sunsun tank, the first design was rubbish IMO but i have the third series & they had ironed out the bugs by then & have had no bad experiences at all.
thats what the swivel is for, weighting the line through the piping. as for weighting the cucumber etc, i use a lead weight that came with plants i have purchased
i use a sand base & have a gravel top layer. those fish should be fine but i would recommend having at least a 1200L/ph or two 1000L/ph. On my 3 footer i have thw hood filter (900L/ph) & a CF1000 (1000L/ph) which keeps the water crystal clear. The discus need really good clean water or the don't do well. I can recomend petplanet for well priced canister filters, especially the aqua one CF1000 or CF1200.
when i did exactely what your about to do I put substarte & rocks etcthat was throughly washed then half filled the new tank, took half the water & the filter from the original tank & put em into the new one. I then put my least favourite fish in the new tank first. left em for two days & gradually added the rest over the next few days. i had no losses at all.
they spawn every 3 to 4 weeks & have never been fighting like this. they normally chase anything else in the tank but have not fought like this. they have not sucessfuly breed yet, i let them eat their eggs.
Hi all, does anyone else ave a pair of angels that the smaller female dominates the larger male. personally i think its a simple case of "yes dear" but she seems to be taking it a bit far. below are pics of the damage, i have never had this happen before so is there anything to worry about as far as the injuries?

Hi all, i have noticed in the last 24 hours that my red zebras that i got on tuesday have developed silver patterns on the outside of their gills. when looking at them it looks like tin foil stuck to them. the pics below dont show them as bright as they really are but you'll get the idea. also is it common for them to have the gill area a darker red than the rest of them?
