BBA from my tank, lucky me got it from plants that i purchased from my LFS edit by smidey, photo too large, will repost smaller one
  3. maybe when they are fully grown after 10-15 years they will need a 6 footer. they grow very slowly. mine are about 3inches & have plenty of room in their 3 footer
  4. i have a similar (better IMO) filtration system in my sunsun tank. I buy bales of wool from my LFS. they are about 2400x1200 & last for 5-6 months. they cost about $13.
  5. & verticle or on a slight angle is very important
  6. i also have a pair of schwatrz corys, they are great to watch cruising around together
  7. & chuck in three or 4 clown loaches, they are always interesting to watch
  8. i guess any temporary tank would be ok for breeding over two foot. they like to lay on smooth verticle surfaces near the top of the tank. mine lay on the filter power head & any leaves of plants that are near the surface. i have seen pics of breeders that hang slate from the hood then remove them away from the parents. mine always eat their eggs on the second day.
  9. i have angels with my gaurami, they mix fine when not spawning.
  10. i think that wuld be the case cause the plants you have would obsorb the nutrients required for the algae to grow?

Flourish excell is a fert that has the side effect of killing algae. I had BBA bad, was recommended her to use excell so i did. on the second day the BBA turned red then white on the third day & slowly disintegrated into nothing over the next four days.

i used flourish excell but didnt need to double dose & i had alot of it
  13. direct sunlight will encourage algae to grow. algae vs dead fish, think the fish would rather the algae.
  14. you drink outa them, we all no waht fish do in their water
  15. im sure if you can maintain room temperature with a fire or gas heater that will hold the temp to. my tanks are in the lounge that has fireplace, cold nights when the fire is on the tanks will go up to 28' sometimes.
  16. i have 10 times the tank volume per hour, ie 1000Lph for 100L tank. That made a difference to algae levels.
  17. i had problems with my arognite growing algae until i added another big filter, now the algae is reducing so it may have something to do with filtration.
  18. it will be constantly heating which will reduce the life of the element, you should get one that is suited to litres you have. just see how low the settings will go & if that suits what you need.
  19. heaters are available in 25 & 50 watts.
  20. or its a good excuse to get a bigger tank, worked for me. Welcome
  21. maybe you could use a couple of small trailer tie downs to clamp it shut assiming its a canister filter
  22. if you dont have a heater you could borrow from another tank, how about putting hot water bottles around the tank?
  23. my LFS raves about those products. I used the plant fert & didnt see any improvement.
  24. run the heater & air line may help to
  25. i use a hose, so much easier! hardest part is getting my some to run down stairs & turn the tap on & off
