  1. i am glad all is well, i "do the rounds" every morning when i feed them & make sure everything is ok. it has saved big losses a couple of times now so it's worth the effort. I discovered once that i forgot to turn on the airation from the night before so if i had of gone to work i would have come home to a tank of expensive cat food.
  2. cool, you do realise that we can see all the pics in your photobucket with that link a? who's the short chick?
  3. i have 8 of them, they do an excellent job of mowing but the exhaust needs to be redesigned to a more feet friendly model.
  4. there are two names that my grandfather who was a farmer & my father who is a contractor use for small-engine powered equipment, "STIHL" & "Briggs & Stratton". I own equipment made by both & i am pleased every time i use them as they start easily & always run well. The other thing thats great about these products apart from their reliability is they are also well priced for top quality gear. My last purchase was a STIHL weed eater, i chose the model with ergo start & a bit more power which was an extra $60 but i could've spent $320 on the same one without the extras. The equivalent (similar size engine & attachments etc) at Mitre10 in a "no-name brand" was only $40 less than the STIHL, it really is worth checking out the specialist stores before purchasing from a box store. The stihl shop serviced & tuned it for free after 10 hours use & they recommend servicing once a year with regular use, i wonder what would happen if you took a weed eater into Mitre10 for a service, do they do that? You can always buy something cheap but for things like this it does pay in the long run to spend a bit more as the chances of it still being a reliable machine in 10 years will be alot higher than a cheap one.
  5. people also protect the environment to, not sure that the possums have any members of that group.
  6. africans bloat as they get a parasite in their intestines which causes a blockage & in turn bloat. food still goes in but nothing out so constipation is the first issue of bloat. I hate talking about it as i have never had a case of bloat in africans & don't want to put "the mockers" on my fish.
  7. at least there is a season for them & an additional weekend for parries. BOOM BOOM
  8. those are expensive to, i would ahve thought they would be great as i see alot of mowing contractors with honda mowers & trimmers.
  9. it also helps to level out the tank to stop additonal pressure being placed on one side of the tank. You can get it from payless plastics, 2.4x1.2 sheet of 8mm is $8, great for insulating the tank to. for a 2 footer i would use mimium 6mm.
  10. i'm sure that would get the heart pumping. the lions were quite funny devouring the birds, they opened their mouths to try to get the feathers off their tounges with their paws. Ash the keeper said the cheetahs were alot smarter, they pluck the belly of the bird & eat it from that point only rather than the lions big bite of feathers each time.
  11. i can only imagine the carnage from being mauled by a small to medium cat, it must ahve been horific for you. nice cat to.
  12. I live next to the lion park in whanagrei, our area is over run with turkeys so my cousin, son & i despatched a dozen of them today & took them to the lion park for food for the big cats. we got to watch the lions eat them, that was very cool but i am genuinly afraid of lions. there was a lion, 2 lionesses & a white tiger in the enclosure & the lion tried to have a go at the keeper through the fence. i would not want to be around if one got out, it was so fast, big & aggressive it was extremely impressive & kinda scary.
  13. 1 less pukeko means 16 more ducks

    A Casualty

could it have been that he died as a result of sickness rather than agression? Was he pretty damaged?
  15. yeah clowns do well with africans, they out compete them for food so its also fun to watch. A GAE is a must IMO, i only recently got one & it has been great. I sed to leave the lights of during the day & i had to clean it manually but with him I have to leave them on to create food for him.
  16. sometimes certain personalities will grab snipits of info & store it for use when trying to bolster the appearance of knowledge on something. we have an IT guy at work that is full of useless info like that that helps no one but fills in the day & manages to keep him from doing anything that remotely looks like the task at hand. Its really kinda odd, replies to any question are a complete over view of everything & anything remotely like the question you asked but none of it actually helps sort the issue.
  17. maybe we need a "show us your wound" thread, i had sergery last week & the scare is not pretty ATM.
  18. yep respect type in jager.com & see what comes up, you would think it would be jager aquarium gear.
  19. does a 50w heater coil emit the same heat per mm as a 300w coil per mm?
  20. with it being an african it will grow & want to breed, it may then play chase & destroy with your other more polite fish. Just something to think about.
  21. o know but it seems some doubt that. the coil is around 400mm long & the heater is over 500mm over all.
  22. looks like lemon is quite popular. 8)
  23. i beleive that the heater i have purchased will be suitable for a 600L to 1000L litre tank.
