  1. No worries, I couldn't get a pic of the blues. If only I had a spare $80 this week...
  2. Went into Hollywoods today and they had a nice looking agassizii I was tempting in getting but still hanging out for a Hongsloi. My 300l tank is just screaming out for some SA cichlids. Sorry for the crappy photo but anyway thought someone would be interested in it. They also had some steel blues that looked nice.
  3. I've got the Weipro temp controller and heater that I have had for about 7 years and haven't had any issues with it. Just had to replace the heater a few months ago due to me forgetting it was turned on and pulling it out of the water and the heater smashed. They use titanium heater now. I have also used the PH monitor in the past but can't remember how good it was though.
  4. Good point, forgot to mention mine were in a covered cabinet.
  5. I just cover with a sheet and then a couple of towels as well. The black rubbish bag idea is good if you have a small tank.
  6. Yeah I only need a few biggish ones so not a whole lot. I'll go check out Stone and Water World in the weekend and they only charge 40c/kg so not too bad.
  7. Thanks, I will have to go check them out in the weekend.
  8. Anyone know where I can pick up some river rocks from around South Auckland? I need some biggish ones for my tank. Been looking around on the net but can't find anything.
  9. Thats exactly what I done and alot hatched. Just keep an eye on the eggs and if any start to get fungus pull them out right away.
  10. Good luck. Did you remove the eggs or the adults?
  11. 2700L and is rated up to 800L so more than enough for your tank.
  12. If you are going to buy it brand new I would recommend the Aqua One Nautilus 2700 it is bigger than the Eheim 2217 but I can't even hear mine running and has great flow. My Eheim 2217 is the only noise I hear from my tank. The Aqua One is the same price as the Eheim right now at Hollywoods and has better flow. If you pay an extra $50 you can get the one with a built in UV for $400. If you don't want the UV they are both $350.
  13. I used to have a Rio 180, it was an awesome tank. I kept the internal filter and also ran an external as well.
  14. I don't really like the look of the life glos but the power glos are nice.
  15. I was going to get one for my tank because I have heard nothing but good things about them. My tank came with 2 filters so I never got one.
  16. Is that a lone swordtail in there? :slfg:
  17. I have one of those Aqua One 2700 running on my tank and its quieter than my Ehiem 2217. Even when I turn off the Ehiem I can't hear it running.
  18. Yeah I've seen Greg mask it off. My one looke very tidy and I was really happy with it. Greg has made a few tanks for me now and I have always been happy with the work he has done.
  19. From what I can remember yes there is but not by much. Flick Greg an email and get a quote for both.
  20. I had Greg make my marine tank with black silicon and it looked great. I like it cause it kind of "frames" the tank.
  21. I've used acrylic paint on every tank I have had without any problems at all, I have used a brush as well. All you need to do is apply it then wait for it to dry (a fan will help) it doesn't take too long then apply another coat. I usually apply 5 coats and only takes about 6 hours until finished. I have some spare acrylic stuff here if you want it adrienne, I can bring it around on Wednesday.
  22. I just used microworms and that worked fine.
  23. I'd also like to see more rainbows like Melanotaenia herbertaxelrodi, Melanotaenia splendida rubrostriata and Melanotaenia trifasciata.
  24. speaking of disinfectant try looking at one called "trigene"
