  1. Nice one. I use to use newspaper in packaging and the black on my hands was unreal from not much contact. Probably non-toxic in this day and age but does make you wonder ...
  2. wow .. hard life being a tadpole huh. reminds me of the ones I dehydrated lol. turtles liked them but wasn't much left of them after drying out.
  3. morcs have you been head bobbing and waving to the beardies again  I had to separate a suspected female bts that has been housed with two suspected males (the males seem happy as together and always have been) for the past year or two today. looks like a pregnant female but thought that last year and no babies so maybe just a fat male. the 'female' has been chasing the other two and biting for past week and intensifying, not an I want to mate you bite, more get out of my territory warning bite but goes on and on, chase bite, chase bite, for hours, lucky no tail lost ... moral is that when they become of age it may not work and bits of tails may get lost. be prepared to separate. good thing is the nutty sknik ignores the beardie :lar:
  4. sometimes come together to bask ontop of each other, then fight or mate. :sml1: their relative? the shingle back pairs for life still lots we don't understand about reptiles. but we do know most are best kept solitary as pets.
  5. Really will be content on it's own, and a lucky pet at that. Then again could always do the double enclosure thing ... mts has no boundaries.
  6. Can try more than one but more often than not it doesn't end well. Best housed on their own or in a huge area with plenty of hides and bark or something they can dig into. Still doesn't guarantee all will get on. My 4x4 foot outdoor pen is too small for multiples really. They just cant escape if one is having a bad day.
  7. Anyone used this method and grown enough on to gauge accuracy .... It can be hard to sell un-sexed reptiles so if this is 100% accurate it is very handy.
  8. could of bowled the last three balls ... only rain. sissys hahahaaa great game though :happy1:
  9. if raised outdoors like below - no added food when morphing- some of these morphed weeks ago. must of been getting midges and what not from pond and or just survived off tail. was testing them while waiting for binos to morph.
  10. last nights visitor must have done some aerobatics on the way here emperor moth what it would of looked like (from page 8)
  11. New to geckos here but do find it fascinating at the personality difference between animals seen already. Have a female skink that is more agro than any other ... attacked and bit tails off other females ... and only ever accepted one male i have .. they now live happily ever after. Males never to blame eh. :sml2:
  12. they look good (hard to tell how big). seem to vary from about 15mm to 25mm at morphing (roughly) if pond drys up they can morph earlier/smaller in some cases. and or food availability. if stop feeding when tail first starts (or slightly before) getting absorbed there can be a significant difference too. feed during tail absorption if they will take it. most size gained prior though. 10mm of size at morph satge = a few crickets so I like them big.
  13. interesting cheers man. so serious mate. ppl need not take me so seriously. I am an idiot ... but not a complete idiot. .. all the time. :sml2: the old auto extend 3mins is very long for some like me, I can flood the shed doing a waterchange in between bidding trust me.
  14. I like to snooker people at the very last minute though. Just not much good when I forget which minute it is :rotf: Those breakfast gecko auctions really get me nicks in a twist too, I dunno if I'm watching an auction or still dreaming. :lar:
  15. Looks very tidy. Any more shake and you'd have no tank - that was the biggest I have felt in years.
  16. cool. somehow missed your earlier post, the tree frogs are looking good well done. size of bell frog morphs can vary substantially depending on a number of things. fascinating they are.
  17. Appreciate that. Courier trip may of slowed her down a bit, was just worried after she was a bit slow for the first few days. Wonder if she was just dehydrated however had moss and was well packed. Maybe lack of oxygen to the brain .. I get that all the time :rolfl: Anyway rather amazed at how fast she's gained some weight (must weigh her). My male gecko is getting fatter by the day despite trying to feed less.
  18. really is a fine line .. two weeks later without any special treatment the condition gained on tail is unreal ..
  19. fair enough - did miss at least one of your auctions. probably should change my bidding strategy. good day here though. was just curious why all the auctions, not just yours. many reasons I guess.
  20. I see all these 'auctions' for reptiles as of late. Most have no buy now ... what are ppl thinking, I mean I havn't seen an auction gain any decent momentum in years. And if anything the lack of bids make it look like no one wants reptiles and the suppliers are just trying hard for an extra dollar. If it was a rare albino or something fair enough ... or have I missed something? yes yes I have .. these stupid auctions I keep forgetting about when they end, could of just used buy now (if was available) when I was looking ... are these ppl trying to sell via auction so they have less legal obligation or what ... good day to ya :bggrn:
  21. was advised to dampen with slightly warm cloth first .. worked for her eye / face but i left toes for now. will give her a bubble bath today lol
  22. Chur the boss of something ... my work here must be done. :slfg: May find some pics in frog photo thread and or enclosure thread. .
  23. had to laugh at the bird cage the other day. who would do that, hahahaa, don't look at me :slfg: Steve bloody Irwin eh, crikey what did we learn  :lar:
  24. thanks Alan can't believe I let the hide dry out. had some skin stuck over her eye that I took off
