  1. Hear ye hear ye. Wasn't sure if movement or smell stimulated feeding for weta, so just placed a single dried cricket in container yesterday and it's gone this morning... things just got very easy. :happy1: The frass of the thing, that's another story
  2. wimmin lol. no but some think they do, haha, idiots. no many teenagers have wives, a few have kids though
  3. no wife yet .. i'm pretty much still a teenager :slfg: cricket farmer needs a wife coming soon
  4. Looks like Bobs missus been straying :lar: Is this the species we are aloud to keep?
  5. I normally just put in a 20 litre bucket with only a couple of litres, then put an air hose from tank and syphon some tank water into bucket. doing it slowly gives the koura time to adjust to temp and other water parameters like ph etc. Could also float in a bag like you would fish to acclimatise to temp, then slowly add small amounts of tank water to the bag over an hour or so .. then let go in tank. :f77:
  6. Here's some more pic's , while on colour. These (maybe not two normal ones in last pic) are young from the last lot I had breed a few years back. My male, on previous page, would of been one of the most orange ones from that lot ... seems to fade with age...
  7. That is awesome news. A proper albino strain too . Good things take time.
  8. Cheers. We are lucky to have them here really, not the variety like over there though eh drool. I often lose interest (edit preditctive txt ) with reptiles then the buggers breed and it stirs things up again and so it goes on haha Couple of pics from today ... First shed for two of the young.. .. Compare to unshed down the bottom ..
  9. I think the yeast was just to boost nutrients in bedding. Seemed to help, but think it was expensive to use in bulk. Banana for a moisture source, dunno why used that prob just using up kitchen scraps :dunno: . Can use potato or carrot sliced up aswel. Go lightly though as don't want to over do it as that often results in mites.
  10. could chuck oats in a blender and then add to bran in order to fortify it as bran if often not enough to produce masses and masses. blended oats and or standard bran is easier to sieve apart from mealworms so you can use them etc. I use to also add yeast to give a boost, and banana peels.
  11. oats a right pita, stick to bran as much easier to work with. mould is from lack of air flow, too much moisture, and or not enough worms to sustain a happy balance. mealworms have a happy place to you know :slfg:
  12. something not right here ... I see a vein in the egg :nilly: :sml2: was reading mak daddy snow is not simple tsd ... otherwise would of said I think I have two girls... female looking good too. both hand fed like a boss earlier.
  13. wonder if they will compensate people that have now lost a substantial client base :sml2:
  14. wonder if they found a colony in a park or something. they are hardly prolific. is a bit of an ask for one council to try inforce a ban. :dunno:
  15. most people wouldn't know the council has made a special rule for this animal. what is with that anyway // probably some councillor with a fair of skinks?
  16. un be live able I got contacts int he 'super' council ... no not Leny :sml2:
  17. I watched a few young skinks here eat adult locusts and a cricket this afternoon, was intended as food for the parents, meanwhile the parents ate the mashed up baby food. wot the lol they love them eh ... I was paying my mates kids 50cent each but they lost interest, lucky I got some locusts instead ... not the same though eh they love them snails. generally crunch them until shell is removed then eat the rest. small snails sometimes go down whole though.
  18. true, hadn't given it much thought ... just looking at him again though the spots are interesting. rather bold on tail etc.
  19. should have ... think he may of got distracted by the pictures.
  20. Thought I ought to read the manual again this morning and noticed the one on the front page almost looks like the one above Here's the little tacker ... he's suppose to be in the hide
