  1. I saw an albino bristlenose labeled as "Yellow Temmincki Ancistrus" in Animates today and it looked like the other albino bns ive seen but abit lighter in clolour and maybe abit more yellow around its mouth! Was I just seeing things or is there other species of albino bn's in nz?
  2. Lol I dont think ive ever seen a man and his ladder in a tank before  thats a huge tank, bit of a shame its only going to be on display for the international travelers but oh well Im sure someone will get some pics sooner or later once its all setup (heres hoping anyway).
  3. Whatever it is Id keep an eye on it as dont some plants flower in a bid to try reproduce before they turn there toes up? I maybe wrong its probably the opposite and very happy in your tank hence why its fowering, either way it looks kool!
  4. Awesome thanks for that, you had me worried there thinking they were the maud island frog as its illeglal to keep native frogs isnt it??
  5. Yea theyre cute little things theyve been neat to watch thats for sure, they have like a lighter colour down each side if that helps and theyre surprisingly small i thought at about 1.5cm/15mm!!
  6. I thought they were The Green and Golden Bell frogs but no im not so sure as theyre brown, these have only just metamophisised (sp?) in the last couple of days!
  7. Awesome thanks alot for that, I just searched azolla on the net and thats it alright!! very similair to duckweed its taken over a couple of baths which ive got fish in but thats all good ive been feeding the excess to my turtles and they seem to eat it so a good source of greens for them  :bounce: Thanks again. .. .
  8. Alright so does anyone on here use O2 for sending fish etc (im sure someone must) & would they mind telling me where to get it from?? I dont know anyone of the top of my head with a gass welder so cant just tap into there supply unfortunately. I'll be sending some goldfish down south this week so would be good to have on hand, otherwise do most ppl just send fish without??
  9. Its kinda got a different texture (sorta rigid) compared with the normal duckweed and also goes a reddish coulour in different situations, Its not that big but still abit bigger than standard duckweed altough it does shirink to about the same size if in unsuited conditions!! In the first 2 pics the little green bits are the normal duckweed in amoungst it! Ive seen it in ponds, still streams before..
  10. Ive got what appears to be a large duckweed and I cant seem to find it on the net so if anyone knows what it is / what its called etc would be great!! Also would like to know if its a banned plant/noxious etc. cherry   :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  11. lol stinky stuff, is the aquatic mix much different from standard potting mix, Im geussing its probably similiar but without the added stuff for weed control and whatever else they chuck in it??? Has any1 used standard potting mix at all?
  12. True thats a good idea, only thing is I dont really have room in the house im renting for it at the moment and dont really want to put a heater outside if I can help it, Ive had some smallish goldfish init for the last couple of months but have moved them and Im selling some of them on tm at the mo as i dont really have the room, Im thinking Ill either put my axolotls init or maybe some goldfish fry to grow on for now and maybe bring it inside when I get a place of my own or one with a decent shed  what ever I do im just very lucky to have it I geuss! Competition can be good for somethings but Im not in any sort of competition either, personally I couldnt care less if someone has a bigger/better tank an so on, actually I care more when its the opposite like ppl keeping fish etc in unsatisfactory conditions like in to smaller tank etc but anyway I must admit its great to see what others have and most of the time to be inspired by, I keep my fish etc just for the enjoyment & pleasure basically! Anyway I think this post is more about seeing some good sized tanks, sorry for going on, id better get some shut eye  Peace out. . . .. .. . . . . .. . . .. .
  13. Cant find the post i was thinking of but if you search moonlighting, moonlight, diy moonlighting etc you'll find some good info on them as a number of members of this site seem to have made/had them before!!
  14. I think there was a someone on this site that made there own a while back and posted how they did it, they worked well too and for memory only cost him about $20 bux, Ill do a seach and see if i can find the link!
  15. Ive got a 3000 x 350 x 250 tank, ok its not that big but 3meters long is reasonably good and to top it off I got it for FREE, haha what a score Ive just plonked it up against the house around the back!
  16. I think the goldfish side is abit hush hush for some reason, so good to see some goldfish talk on here thats for sure, and you sure seem to know your goldfish fishboi so its good to hear from someone with abit of knowledge on the subject!

    B/N X GBA

Im surprised it hasnt happened sooner really, but yeah IMO its a waste of time x breeding them like that, keep it real ppl lol!!
  18. You could try putting some daphnia in with them, I think I read that somewhere for goldfish eggs but not too sure if itll work!
  19. I saw that listing but didnt have the $$ at the time so was pretty guttered as it did look like a dam nice fish!
  20. O2 as in oxygen from an air pump instead of breathing/blowing into the fish's bag or is this like pure oxygen from a tank like divers use or something???? Ive seen some people mention they use it when sending/moving fish around the place and apparintly the fish can last up to 5 times longer with it!
  21. Good effort on winning those auctions I was watching but had a power cut so only just got back on, I was gonna bid but you would of out done me! Congrats theyre nice fish
  22. 1. So I can Seperate the males from females if need be. 2. Needed some way to get to the otherside of the pond so the division is good to walk on, I guess i could of just chuked some big rocks in there to step on though. 3. I may put my snakenecks back out there soon. 4. Ive got about 19 turtles all up so the moor tanks/ponds the better. lol I used to have around about 40 odd turtles a few months back, it/I got abit crazy, so 19's abit more manageable to say the least!!
  23. Hi there, true so fibreglass would probably work, will it actually hold to the polythene an not peel away ?? If so ill keep that in mind
  24. Yea it did x my mind but with a 50mm pipe and 1 of those fittings I dont think it woud fit the holes I made So far having taped the holes up it hasnt leaked at all but im sure it wont last for very long so Ill have to address it again soon enough which will probably mean putting a new pond liner in & maybe with a 50mm pipe and fitting but Ill see how she goes! Originally I had 2 seperate ponds in there all planted up with sand beds and 2 of everything like lights- filters- heaters etc so the reason for changing it was to make it all linked up to save on power mainly, which effectively Ive done now having just 1 of each but 2 much bigger ponds (still need a proper divider though) so If I do have to go out an buy another liner and maybe those fittings itll start getting up there pricewise, but anyway live a learn & in doing this ive learnt my lesson "not to rush things" so If i do have to re-address it Ill make sure I plan it out first!!
  25. It may just have some air in it, sometimes canisters can be tricky to get started, maybe try putting another pump on the intake hose to give it a kick start it or get the garden hose and do the same thing, I find that some times gets them going!
