Heya Frenchy
When were the changes made with the naming of the Nyassae? All the references I have stated that the Nyassae was a different species altogether than the stuartgranti etc. Is it a recent change that has been made? 8)
They come in through Brooklands (supplier) and the royal blues that come in are referenced to species Nyassa on the list. Axelrod has a good pic of the royal blue that the imports are linked to on the list. Seems Jansens misnamed them.
Flying Fox DO eat black algae, however the older they get the lazier they get.. young fly foxes do a great job on black algae. Once they get old they like to sit around for meals on wheels
Borneo Suckers certainly like a cooler tropical temp but "cold" would definately upset them so you are doing the right thing putting a heater in to bump the temp up a bit.
That happens.. I was told that all that come in must have a Sci name but have found from suppliers that the odd thing that arrives comes with a simple plain old common name
In pic it looks like both, either JD or Jewel, both have the blue pearling however the mouth looks more JD to me, yet a very pale JD. Hard case how a shot like that can look like two fish that are totally different. A better shot would be good
You see alot of these non aquatic plants being sold to LFS as aquatic plants from plant suppliers/wholesalers, have seen them on the lists... :-? So seems that the LFS owner has no idea herself, so might pay to actually inform her incase she is innocent and truely has no idea.
I have been told that a guppy virus/illness at times can come in on imported guppies and once put with NZ strain/bred guppies, our guppies here are not immune and get knocked off by the imports. The imports surive through having the immunity.
Heya Guys.. keep it friendly, there are plenty on here with great ideas and personal experience and cost cutting ideas.. so be happy to share and compare without any "red rag to bull" incidents
I would have to agree snookie.. feeding etc definately has a huge impact on growth... the growth rate on the net surely is impacted on the care and the feeding of the fish surely so could only be used as a guide.
The silver marking is normal, and alot of red zebras I have seen their gill plates are often darker in colour, you see it with angels etc to that are lighter in colour and goldfish. Must be the lighter pigment in skin. The only time I would worry is if my fish was showing signs of distress and gasping for air etc.
