  1. What sort of ice cream container are you going to use? TipTop of Cadburys are a bit flimsy, especially if you want to stick something to the side and hang it over the edge of the tank, they may loose their shape. What about something like a Systema clip lock one, bit thicker walls? (I am not condoning that you 'acquire' one of your Mother's bickky containers, either, then try and blame it on me! )
  2. Are you setting the white balance before you take the pics - I find I have to with all the different lights over my tanks.
  3. Ummm, not much at all... The statistics assignment made my day, though - as did the reaction to the email I had to send informing the entrant that it did not meet the entry criteria!
  4. Why do Harlequins always look grumpy - or pulling the bottom lip thing like a kid who isn't getting what they want? You can still change your submission until the 14th, if you don't want to use your first one, but only one will get entered in the comp, heck, I even been given statistics assignments instead of photos for the competition!
  5. I only mentioned it because I have been caught by this before - my danios were acting strangely every time I did a water change, and since the ph of our tapwater is normally around 7, when I tested the tank and it showed 7.5 I discounted this as the problem, until I tested it with the high end kit and it went purple...
  6. Sorted this for you Southerrrngirrl...

    Banana Lilies

I had one, grew like a weed in my 2fter with 36w of 6500k light - leaves got really big, had to get rid of it. In any other tank I had it struggled, the leaves stayed the size of old 50c pieces and then it would slowly disappear.
  8. Do you have the high end ph test kit, you may find that it is even more than 7.7
  9. Our Malamute used to weigh 50 kgs. He would be heading for the food as well!
  10. Wow, that is one awfully tidy fishroom!
  11. Damnit, why do you guys have to post stuff like this? Now I have to rush off and find the tissue box before the kids see me....
  12. Ok, I have the little guy, happily swimming around in my sump. Will sort out freight next week - so you can stop pestering Livingart to see if he has arrived yet!
  13. Ha! And you guys thought I was bad with a mere pointy stick!
  14. I think you could have paid a bit more attention to the grass, David... It's looking a bit patchy here and there.
  15. I so want a 50mm fixed focus lens for our 450D - Since it belongs to work, I wonder if I can con them into buying one?
  16. I got rid of mine by gently picking them off the rocks - I have fairly long fingernails, and can get them underneath the bubbles. You have to be careful not to pop them, so be careful if you are going to use things such as tweezers. One of our local club members bought a tank riddled with the stuff, she used to sit around in the evenings with a pair of tweezers and a piece of rock in a small container picking them off - took her ages!

    Little Fry

That would be telling!!! Actually, these types of killies, especially the annulatus are surface dwellers, and the fry from day one are always at the top. They must be pretty hardy to have survived being unceremoniously dragged out of the tank in some riccia, biffed into a ziplock bag, sit in my bag most of the day, stuffed into a cardboard anti-crush construction that I had to make for the envelope with the bag in it, squeezed into the post box because it must have been borderline 20mm thick, transported to the mail sorting centre in a van, sorted, then thrown in a bag and placed on a truck up to Auckland then delivered to you, possibly on a scooter or pushbike. Not bad, aye?
  18. The blue looks stunning, well done. What sort of Killie, by the way, Twinkles?

    Little Fry

Wait a bit, if they get blue glowy bits over their eyes, they are normani. If not, and they seem to take ages to grow but develop stripes when really little, they are annulatus. I would wager on the annulatus at this stage.
  20. Wok!!! What did you think I was going to do to them - marinate and stick them on a skewer before I delivered them?
  21. You do that via the User Control Panel > Profile > Edit Avatar It has to be Maximum dimensions; width: 80 pixels, height: 80 pixels, file size: 8.00 KiB. If you have a pic that you want to use that is not the right dimensions, drop me a PM and I will sort it out for you.
  22. You two have been watching too much Top Gear! Don't tell Caryl, she hates the program....

    3 foot tank

Bossy little turkey, our Phoenix is!
  24. That's nearly a month away, Wok! Nymox would have died from anticipation by then! I have to see when I can get around to pick the wee fella up yet, maybe tomorrow night after work.
