  1. Thought that might be the case! What about shelf brackets? Or the real McCoy, last product on the page - http://www.arcadia-uk.info/product.php? ... ⊂=&id=4 Actually, what makes you think that you will be allowed to make holes in the wall either? I did not gift myself the pointy stick... we have four NZKA members in our club.
  2. You can, the electrical stuff is either grey or orange and made of PVC - I would not use it for structural stuff like hanging a light fitting over a tank. You can get steel or rigid conduit, but I don't think it has the flanges that you see in the pic, and you usually have to thread it and use joiners (you could ask Simian, it has been a long time since I have had to deal with conduit) or maybe that is water pipe? The pointy stick was a gift from a HBAS and NZKA member...
  3. Pointy stick is MINE.... hands off!
  4. Claiming to have been turned into a bird is no excuse for not writing an article, especially since you still seem to be able to use the computer
  5. Did not, I tried to turn you into a bird, get it right! Anyway, speaking of pointy sticks, where is my article for the killie mag, Phoenix?
  6. (I am only using this smilie because I know Sam does not like it!) Is the 2ft cube rimless? - I can't remember taking note of that when I last saw it.
  7. Execpt it's called cecotropes, not strictly poop, sort of fermented food for later?
  8. For goodness sake, it is only a two footer, if it is 6mm glass it has a safety factor of eight... If in doubt, ask Barrie, I was sitting next to him when he was building a two footer and he said that the bracing that you put at each end was not necessary and did nothing for the strength of the tank.
  9. I presume you have permission to drill holes in the ceiling to suspend the fitting, and that there is some sort of sufficient support to screw it into directly above the tank?
  10. You forgot to tell Sam that would be because some of them have no scales
  11. Here's one Rozski had made, very tidy and sort of ADA styled. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=31547 Be a man, Sam, hack the bracing off! Just be careful you don't slice your paws when using the razor blade to do so... Here is one of my favourite George Farmer tanks - he removed the centre bracing from the tank to get a clean open look: http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/p ... blogid=145
  12. Glad to see he made it ok, now, where are the pics? I need to reiterate that I am not blonde with a blue patch on the back of my pony tail.
  13. I have a couple with no bracing, most of the time on a 2fter it's only there to sit the lids on so they do not slip into the tank!
  14. Is it there yet? (said in best whiney kids voice) This Is how the wee fella got a ride: Subject: Anyone traveling up to Tauranga willing to deliver a small parcel? It will not bite, or argue with the other occupants in the car, or ask 'are we there yet?' incessantly.
  15. They are not Dageti - wrong tank! I offered to send him some more to keep his two company, but he hasn't risen to the bait yet!
  16. lol, I couldn't work out if he was offering you a coffee, or a boiled fish!!
  17. Just as messy as hairgrass when you try and trim it, nasty floaty bits that get everywhere! Where have you put your poor killies? Do you want some more to keep them company
  18. Looking good Sam. You have one of each of the killies by the sound of it - the stripy one will be Pseudepiplatys annulatus, Clown killie, and the other one will be Poropanchax normani, Norman's lampeye.
  19. Block the windows out with sheets of polystyrene...
  20. It was a cut and paste job...
  21. EVALUATION SEA LEVEL READINGS INDICATE A TSUNAMI WAS GENERATED. IT MAY HAVE BEEN DESTRUCTIVE ALONG COASTS NEAR THE EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER AND COULD ALSO BE A THREAT TO MORE DISTANT COASTS. AUTHORITIES SHOULD TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION IN RESPONSE TO THIS POSSIBILITY. THIS CENTER WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR SEA LEVEL DATA TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT AND SEVERITY OF THE THREAT. FOR ALL AREAS - WHEN NO MAJOR WAVES ARE OBSERVED FOR TWO HOURS AFTER THE ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL OR DAMAGING WAVES HAVE NOT OCCURRED FOR AT LEAST TWO HOURS THEN LOCAL AUTHORITIES CAN ASSUME THE THREAT IS PASSED. DANGER TO BOATS AND COASTAL STRUCTURES CAN CONTINUE FOR SEVERAL HOURS DUE TO RAPID CURRENTS. AS LOCAL CONDITIONS CAN CAUSE A WIDE VARIATION IN TSUNAMI WAVE ACTION THE ALL CLEAR DETERMINATION MUST BE MADE BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES. ESTIMATED INITIAL TSUNAMI WAVE ARRIVAL TIMES AT FORECAST POINTS WITHIN THE WARNING AND WATCH AREAS ARE GIVEN BELOW. ACTUAL ARRIVAL TIMES MAY DIFFER AND THE INITIAL WAVE MAY NOT BE THE LARGEST. A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF WAVES AND THE TIME BETWEEN SUCCESSIVE WAVES CAN BE FIVE MINUTES TO ONE HOUR.
