  1. I hope you aren't putting them in with your turtle or axolotls?!?!?!

    Cory's

They will breed once they get to around 3-4cm's. Yep microworms will do the fry fine, along with some crushed flake, or some sort of sinking pellet. My last batch i fed primarily on baby brine shrimp, and they grew insanely fast!

    Cory's

Panda corys are one of the more sensitive, harder to breed and harder to raise corys. Get a group of albino or bronze corys and grow them up. they will breed readily once they are happy, and are hard to stop! I've bred both, and the babys are vrey easy to raise. I only recently sold my breeding group of albinos, and still have a breeding trio of bronzes.
  4. http://www.wingvigor.com/index.htm Has some cool pics, and a little bit of info here and there. The notho pictures are awesome! (along with the others of course)
  5. Meant to be only me and mum at home now (4bdrm house, quite big though) but the sisters in and out at times. Anyway, got 12 or 13 tanks running (dont you just hate it when you lose count of how many tanks you have... mind you, mum has two!) We use an oil heater in winter and our powerbill is, er, wait... (whats a powerbill again?) 8)
  6. Im not too sure, but just let me say.... Don't waste your money on TLC! Yes you can use a dechlorinator (does stress coat do that?) but you don't need to add anything else. its a total waste of $$ and is not needed. Sorry i can't help any more
  7. ohk, over 34 times. but then you said that you had 44. Im still sure theres some with more than that out there
  8. Yea but you said "I have more flow than most tanks and i have a substrate", then you said that you have 34 times turnover..... I'd say that alot of tanks in NZ would have more than that, and hardly any would have less........
  9. only 34 times turnover?!?! i'll bet theres heaps here with more turnover then that reef!
  10. What fish are you putting in the tank?
  11. Haha that does gotta suck! Im thinking that when they first start breeding i will just let them spit, and leave the babys in the big tank with them, until i have a huge colony of 40 odd and then start to get rid of the babys. I may not stick the hoplos in with them..... can't decide.... i do like my hoplos, but i also like the idea of having ONLY demasoni....
  12. Demasoni and electric yellows. Dark blue/black and bright yellow..... BEAUTIFUL combination 8)
  13. They're moutnbrooders so yea, its just getting the females to hold long enough (which i guess they will after a couple trys usually) and then you either let them spit the babys when they're ready, or you pull her out and strip her
  14. Dunno, probably off you, thats if you are still in the country at the time  When are you going to timor? But yea, if you have some at the time then i will probably get them from you. As long as they aren't from the same batch they should be sweet breeding together, its just brothers and sisters that won't be good. Either way, if i get bad fry, i cull them easy as that. Its going to have LOTS of dems haha.
  15. Yea man, busting at the seams to get them in there!!! Im gunna be buying at least another 18 of them early next year sometime, then it will be a tank full of Dems! 8)
  16. Doubt you'll ever find it in NZ unfortunately
  17. They aren't in the big tank yet. They are in a smaller 50L tank at the moment because they are still small. They are the only fish in the 50L, but once they go into the 350L they will be with two hoplos and 2 brichardi (pulchars)
  18. Lol mark! i'll have to come catch one sometime.... easy peasy  Oscarboy, I have 18 Demasoni at the moment, but will be getting more eventually
  19. Thanks kenneth! Substrate is just plain old brightwater gravel. Its looks a bit wierd in the tank because there were hundreds of air bubbles all over it when i took the photo
  20. Hey thanks! Tank is 1300 x 450 x 600. Was specially made to fit a certain space for someone, then i bought it off them (thats why its 1300 long - odd length) Plants are fine with some africans, but not with most of them. Demasoni are vegetarians, so may pick at them, but dont seem to do alot of damage too them. The tank they are in now has a tiger lotus and java moss and fern in it, and all the plants seem to survive absolutely fine. The water parameters aren't too different from your normal planted tank setup. pH is only about 7.6 which is pretty sweet for most plants. I haven't gone with any stem plants as they aren't quite as hardy as swords etc, but they may work HTH
  21. Finally got around to setting it up. Only filled it up late last week, and at the moment have got a few guppys in there just to make sure everything is fine. The plan is to then introduce my pair of brichardi, and two hoplos, then a couple weeks later introduce the 18 Demasoni. Plan is to have heaps of demasoni eventually (hoping for around 35 ish), and then only keep the two hoplos (because this is my largest tank and i want them to have the space - also so they can clean up the bottom a bit. I am also putting in my brichardi pair because i dont think they will get picked on in such a big tank, and because it means that i dont have to have another tank running just for them I still want to put a bit more rock in, and i also have a couple swords to put in aswell. Theres a big stocking full of coral sand in the external filter which is keeping the pH steady at around 7.6 (which is what i want it at) I still need to get a big black piece of paper or cloth for the backing, and i also need to position the piece of wood with the java moss and java fern on it (the one in front of the rock in the middle) in some place better. And incase some of you didn't see the last pictures i posted of the dems then heres a couple for ya They have almost doubled in size since those photos though, the biggest ones pushing 3cm now! Can't wait to get them into the big tank!!! Any criticism/comments/feedback etc would be great!
  22. Anythings big enough for marine, it just depends what you put in it, what equipment you have, how much money you have, how much effort you put into it, and what you want it to look like.
  23. Have you bothered to read the sticky in the saltwater forum about starting a marine tank.....
